Well I am a new member here and I have just purchased a nice lil '00 Ek9 .. so sexy. It came with alot of work done on it. The internals have been changed aswell as the head. Which brings the question of what compression ratio am I running right now ? I have the d16y7 with cp pistons , Eagle rods , Eagle Block Guard , and a z6 Gude head. The previous owner told me the pistons were to be the same ratio as the stock ones but he doesnt know about the compression because of the Gude head was shaved. How would I be able to tell ?

Second Question, is how much is too much for the cylinder walls?

My goal is to put down about 260 - 300 whp.

And are there any famous kits for the D series?

Thanks in advanced :)

This post shows all that is done to my car when I bought it for $2,000

i don't think you have an ek9, anyhow there are plenty of good kits for the D series, where are you located? What is your budget?

Iam in Jacksonville ,Fl ... and my budget isnt really a issue but also wouldnt want to spend a fortune.... maybe around $2,500 ... I just want something reliable that wont peek or do something to hurt my motor since I wont be sleeved.

It's going to be hard to get a turbo kit AND ems+fuel management for $2500...

With your experience and a educated guess... with the AFI kit and the 440cc injectors + walbro 255 ... stuff I have now.... what do you think it would make... I know a lot of variables... but if you cant anwser that ... then what do you think it would make on a stock d16y7 ?

remember this is what I have

Blinx,..,., I feel like we are going in circles!

With :
-d16y7 stock block sleeves
-Skunk2 adjustable cam gear
-Gude Racing D16z6 Cylinder Head and Cam
-ARP d16 head studs
-Golden Eagle block guard
-Megan Racing Drift spec catback exhaust
-Skunk2 Pro Series Intake manifold
-Hondata intake manifold gasket
-P28 ecu with Hondata s200
-Custom 63mm bore throttle body
-CP pistons Eagle connecting Rods
-255lph walbro
-AFI Turbo Kit
-Injectors to meet my goal ..... forget about them now .... just say 1000cc so no limits...
What do you think it will be able to make reliably ?
I know it is all in the tune, I will not be cheaping out on it and will do my research of tuners in my area.
But my power goal is 300whp ....
I dont know the compression ratio right now but I will have it checked into and if need be I will swap the pistons...
And if 300whp needs sleeves... then so be it.. I will get some bensons....
But with my setup and the AFI kit... what do you think it will be able to make reliably ?

:nice:

unfortunately i am not familiar with the strength of OEM sleeves on the D series but i have seen numerous stock sleeve D series in the 300whp range... hell full-race made 500whp on there stock sleeve D series but i don't know how long the motor lasted.

is better and cheaper if you put a gsr motor in it and it'll be running about the same than the boosted single cam.

reliable STOCK Y7?

200whp.

give or take 30.

While it's true some have made some almost unbelievable numbers on stock blocks - those are the guys who also have stocks bought in form of forged internals spare blocks. Pushing the limit can be fun when you expect it to blow up.

start here.
are people using a different D block? i seen a lot of daily driven D series turbo with stock sleeves maybe its s certain one that is more durable?

stock block, the A6 from the EF Si Civic/CRX is apparently the most sought after since it has steel mains.

The oil pump design is also better than the Y7/Y8 but similar to the Z6. Sleeves aren't really the issue...(I'm talking 300-350whp ceiling) it's the oiling and weak'ish rods/pistons.
