Hey guys, ive tried to look for info on this and everything a bit blurry so it was time to write up a post.
basically im building my vti up for track and dont need to worry about silencers or cats ( track dosent worry about noise limits I attend ) so I was planning on taking a straight 2.25" t304 stainless pipe from my manifold back. no bends or anything. but will this not create enough back pressure and does it need bends to function properly ? im not an expert but its an idea I thought id explore. I figured a straight pipe would have no restrictions and flow better but no idea.
cheers :)

You issue will be ground clearance, lack of it, even for track.

Check this out! funny, but should answer your Q about back pressure.

I'm sure Thers a thread somewhere o. Here about exhaust myths. And back pressure is on ther.
Although most on here would say that a 2.25" would be restrictive anyway x

but in theory would the straighter the exhaust be better? because I could just try as little bends as possible

Honesty the gain wouldn't be worth it. Your not going to notice a few hp for all the Agro with ground clearance and things. Get a basic system buddy club spec 2 or something and spend your time and money elsewhere.
Even custom with no silencers cheaper still, just follow old exhaust shape

No exhaust is the best, but loud.
Stick with a bolt on exhaust as already said.
I recommend 2.5" exhaust, decat for track use.
2.25" is ok too with decat on track.
Turbo? go with 3"

Yeah all about how modded you are really for the bore size. Although I know countless boosted astra's running 300+hp on 2.5" exhausts.

haha the inspiration is flawless. Yeah I may go for a pre made straight through then just weld on more pipe as a back box haha. cheers people :)

Call Charlie at pro speed exhausts Cardiff, tell him I sent you. He is a hit with Clio/ford owners, Guys very clever and custom exhausts are his business.
He's not blinkered to the Honda tuning way so a good second opinion source.
