Just wondering,

I'm sure i have read somewhere before (maybe on here but couldn't find anything with the search) that using the spoon N1 bung on trackdays or at constant high revs can over heat exhaust valves ?? Or something of similar effect?

There is an N1 bung for sale atm for a good price, and i want one just in case my system is too loud would hate to get to track and not be allowed on.

But if its not a wise move i may just buy a stock ek9 backbox for track days,

Any info would be much appreciated! :nice:

stevenek9 posted up a while back about spoon n1 bung being detrimental to exhaust valves..

If you think about it, bunging an exhaust will change the engine's volumetric efficiency (VE). Seeing that the ECU map is a calibration of the engines VE over its working rev and load range you'd really have to have a specific map for the bunged engine.
This doesn't appear to be an issue with our other JDM brethren as most of their cars use MAFs which help with the slight, yet significant, changes that a bung would have.

Ahhh, think i will just go for a stock ek9 backbox then, will be less restrictive than a bung at least! & Definately Quieter.

Cheers!
