Bout time I spilt the beans on my new toy.

Always said I would have one, one day and when this came up for sale 35miles away and me having an empty garage...........I had to go view.

As soon as I arrived I realised that I had to own it. No paint blisters (very rare for these), very few stone chips and only 32k on the clock with plenty of service history.

Anyway if you havent skipped to the pictures already its a Opel Speedster NA.

The story goes that this was built with the intention of being sold in southern ireland but brought back before being registered by and english dealer.

Few pics after a clean today -

First thing to do is attempt to get the chavy tint spray off the lights!!! Then plenty of other plans.

Oh, and a couple of things arrived this week :)

Going to cut the badge of the front V and paint it black.

Need to get tyres first though ;-)

Turbo version of this was on my to do list, can imagine a nice 270+HP in one of these with some track upgrades.
Alas they are too expensive for me.

Can't really comment on what it's like to drive yet. Only driven it twice and once was to bring it home after picking it up haha.

Sure once the weather picks up and I get some semi slicks on i will be able to report back.

Jesse, had thought about a turbo but doing some reading I believe you are better to get an NA and supercharge. Turbos are 50kg heavier and NA + supercharge works out slightly cheaper (a lot cheaper if you DIY supercharge).

Getting it looking how I want first then take things from there tho :)

Fair enough lol

Don't forget to add the weight of the supercharger etc into your calculations.
How do the 2.2s handle the superchargers?
They iffy with timing chain aren't they?

Yeah I guess, plenty of arguments for turbos & superchargers going on on the forum haha.

I guess they do man, loads of surcharged ones on vx220.org plus cheap enough for an engine if you blow it up lol

That's a long way off for me atm tho.

Plans are -

Tyres
Hardtop
Coilovers
Turbo ears
Spoiler

Yeah your spot on with how cheap the engines are!
They look decent and lotus chassis isn't it?

Yeah man, share a mountain of components with the S1 elise but in my view are a lot easier on the eye.
