As per the title, I have been looking for an EK9 for quite a while now. Even before I could get my hands on one, I believe I got most of the parts for the supposedly factory condition rebuild even before I bought the car. But then again, I really don’t think a Honda lover, or in fact any car lover could ever have “most of the parts”…..for some reason the part bills just don’t seem to stop.
A substantial amount of funds were spent on this project, and after years of saving for a dream, it doesnt feel that hard on my pocket. I will not disclose how much I spent exactly, but you will be able to read and see almost everything that will be installed. There is no question as to whether I should have built something else. This project is EK9 specific and even though a DC5 was probably an option, the EK9 has always been one of my dream cars.
If you have the time to follow the project, you would realize that the project is being done to perfection. I am taking my time overlooking every aspect of the car from the inside out. Anything unacceptable that comes in my way, it is either repaired or replaced with brand new OEM parts….once I can afford it.
I got my EK9 at a reasonable price. It was actually in good overall condition having done over 180,000 kms. Did I really have to restore it? No. Was anything wrong with engine and gearbox components? Not really. It was well maintained and needed minor servicing. But this is where me being meticulous comes in. It was the reality of knowing that this is a used CTR 1997, and had 4 previous owners. The original engine was removed, a boosted B16A installed, and then the original put back in. And yes we mean the B16B.
I know at some point it was getting a good work out, but I would really never know the true story behind the car. Was a B16A really put in? or was it the B16B that was boosted? What else was tampered with? Any accidents? Right now it doesn’t matter, as everything will be repaired or changed.
Well let me get straight to what all you Honda fanatics are probably looking forward to….progress pictures.
Comments both positive and negative are welcome and I would love to know what you think and what suggestions you may have. Thanks for reading!
