hi im fairly new but thought I could share the little I know as I have the worst luck when it comes to cars :angry2:

anyways I had an aerodeck which I did a full rebuild with type r internals
pistons, cams valves valve springs retainers and inlet valves all in a b18c4
I only did a steady 20miles and parked it up as my second child was due, had a 2.2 lude tax and tested at the time.
so car was parked up north at my brothers house, him not knowing started it up weekly, was nice of him but it glazed the bores so was a bit smokey

anyways drove it for a few thou miles without it clearing so left it

so along came this
419894_3536728742537_1401908618_33432779_651431769_n.jpg

it is a vti-s but the bumper bits are missing but has the white numbers on the clocks

only thing that got me to get this was the wheels not the lightest but light enough

rest of the car is awfull crappy paint job dents over spray and paint runs
had 195-45-15 tyres
smoked a bit and felt like driving a 1.1! I could bearly pass a corsa c 1.2!!!!!

so changed the tyres

couple of months back I decided to start rebuilding the b18 with pctx pistons,
read lot of good things about the npr pistons so ordered a set 81.5mm
got them had block machined etc
WP_000114.jpg

but it was going too smooth as when I bolted torqued the rods I saw(well mate noticed it)
WP_000130.jpg

piston to the left is not straight, in the bore the piston is turned slightly clock wise
so needed a replacement from the states but the supplyer could not get me a single piston so got a refund and bought some more
this time got a different brand ITM
and decided to heve these fitted to the type r rods I had,
had the rods aqua blasted
WP_000021-1.jpg

i did check the weight differences and iirc there was not evan a gram between the rods so balance will be ok
also from before I have had the crank machined and balanced with the rest of the bottom end

some more pics of the block now with the crank

well I managed to break the b16 so whipped the head of and after some cleaning found cracks near the spark plug holes and valves
WP_000031.jpg

well I still do have the p72 head and with the pistons and the 0.75mm skim the head has had I will be close to 15-1 C/R so cant do that

managed to find an empty type r head but going to be bit of a mission to pick it up without a car,

good news
after 3 hours 2 busses and a taxi I have the type r head! then travel back lol
it will be off to get skimmed and cleaned tomorrow,

see why folk say the pooh port job on these heads

s9b box apart

gears taken out of the s9b b16 box apart
WP_000050.jpg

while doing this for the first time I had the put together and apart a few times, in the end after a lot of cleaning and inspection the full gear set from the b16 box went in to the s9b box with the diff,

the itr head skimmed
WP_000055.jpg

it seems like the head also has like a factory port job on the exhaust ports too, thought Honda only did the inlet

quick clean of the exhaust valves

WP_000059.jpg

could of tried to have them with a nice swirl polish but short of time and lot of running about to do today,
WP_000060.jpg

viton stem seals didn't come today so got some standard ones for now till later
well the engine is now built up timing and valve clearances all done

cleaning will have to wait just need to see it running fine,

well finished it tonight engine running sweet no smoking so happy days,
but now I have a noisy gearbox
also now at 3k rpm car is doing 55mph in 5th gear

What did you do with the g box buddy as that's a good motorway crusier or isn't it same as the mb6

I used the gears from the b16 box and put them in the s9b(mb6) box so I have lsd
for some reason it is tiny bit shorter than what it used to be????
the s9b box was left out side for a few weeks but was like new inside was quiet when I used it last sounds like the bearings
something had to go wrong lol,

Why did you do that and did you swap the final drive over and its shorter because the s4c box has 4.4 fd and short gears were else the mb6 had 4.23 fd and linger gears so s4c gears and s9b fd means shorter gear box.

Yeah shorter gears and LSD! I love the lsd lol car is so much better,
Covered just over 200, will report back tonight,

as this time its only the pistons and rings needed bedding in done the quick process of running it in, keeping it under load as much as possible.

done 270miles

has not used any oil no smoke
shame about the bearings in the box, for some reason even though I put 2liters of oil in I put another liter in without any spilling out
would like a standard dc2 or ek9 cat back
the difference in the gearing compared to the s9b is phenomenal

im so happy for once it drives mint has more than enough torque without needing vtec

spec of the engine is
b18c4 block
b18c4 crank with just under 1kg taken off knife edged
fully balanced bottom end to (g6.3)
b18c type r rods
pctx pistons 81.5mm
rebore to slightly finer p2w than factory spec
spoon fly wheel 4.2 kg ( so aprox 5kg lighter than standard in total inc crank)
acl race bearings
type r head off a 97 itr ( thanks to daz @dnr/endless horizon)
type r valve train and cams
unknown cam gears
b16 inlet
itr throttle body
itr style exhaust manifold
standard cat and exhaust
jdm p73 ecu
think that's it,
as it is cant see it being more than 180bhp if that (b16 inlet exhaust)

Well only after 450miles a water pipe split and blew head gasket and warped the block stretched the head bolts and stripped a few threads,
Well off I go again gut the block and refresh it all,
Got alot to do this time so will be slow progress

Block is out by 4thou the centre has sunk in so luckly I won't gain much extra compression
think I will be converting the steering to manual with a breather and cleaning/removing as much as I can from the engine bay not too sure on a wire tuck though
Would like to reroute the water pipes to get cooler water to the oil cooler and get a low temp thermostat
Will get some pics up when I lift out the block(my poor back lol)
