Selling my much loved 1997 Honda Civic EK9 Type R in Championship white with red Recaro interior.

Spec includes as standard,

Air conditioning, electric windows, electric mirrors which electrically fold in, twin SRS airbags, momo steering wheel, red recaro seats, limited slip diff, 1.6 16v b16b engine, pas etc etc.

The car has covered 88,000 miles, Mot til November 2007 and Tax'd til June 2008.

I had the car imported for me and picked it up in December 2006, I am the first UK owner of the car.

All the import documents are all in a folder, along with a pile of receipts, general upkeep to keep it pristine mostly.
The timing belt was replaced in Japan at 60,000miles but upon arrival in the UK i had it replaced with a Honda belt just to be sure.
When imported I also changed the fuel filter, fitted Denso iridium spark plugs, air filter, a magnetic sump plug and oil change with Millers 10w40 oil and a Hamp Synergy oil filter. The oil has been changed with the same items every 5000miles since. I had the rear trailing arm bushes and anti roll bar bushes replaced as they were slightly worn, along with a gearbox mount. The car has just had fresh genuine Honda H badges on the bonnet and boot as the originals were fading. In January 2007 I had a Clifford 950 concept alarm fitted which cost £700. I also had a genuine Honda key cut as a spare key.

The bodywork is in excellent condition, no sc****s or dents, and 100% original.
The interior is unbelievably clean, and has the original JDM flare, Alpine MP3 Cd player, Nakamichi speakers, the Type R mats are unmarked, and the Recaro seats are in excellent condition with no burns etc.
Mechanically the car is perfect, the steering is as tight as it left the factory, the gearbox is tight too, the engine was dyno'd at 205bhp so it is definately healthy.

The car will be sold with original 15" Type R wheels with nearly new tyres.

I looked long and hard and spent alot of money to get the EK9 I wanted, it will not disappoint any buyer, its one of the best i've seen. I am selling due to purchasing a JDM EP3 Type R Civic.

Car is located in Ayrshire, near Glasgow, Scotland.

Sold pending bank transfer :)
Can I ask why you selling it for the EP3? What do you like on the EP3 civic?? Is it the power, the look, both or something else?? If its something that you don't wanna mention there's no problem!! :nice: I'm just curious
Your essay makes me feel like its a painful separation :( Hope its not

in the uk, the jdm ep3 is very rare, not the main reason but a reason.

88000 miles was getting on a bit, the ep3 i'm getting has 21000 miles.

power...no, my ek9 was 208bhp and lighter than an ep3, i'd imagine the performance will be very similar but the ep3 wont match the rawness of the b16b and the awesome noise of the spoon system with vtec :)

basically its because its alot newer a car, low mileage, and to buy the ep3 i didnt need much money as i had some money saved. also good that theres very few ep3 jdm models in the uk compared to ek9s now.

it is a painful seperation, i just put the original wheels on tonight, looks so good. i'm praying the ep3 is hopefully somewhere near the fun of the ek9!

I hope too!! I've seen some videos on youtube and I was not impressed to say the truth :( The exterior, the sound, the agility........cannot be compared I believe with the EK9. Also the Uk EP3 is around 197 bhp, right? I was expecting something more from a 2.0 litre i-vtec engine :(
Anyway, I like the interior of that car and its a good investment for the future!! :nice:

have you seen the best motoring vid that uses the jdm ep3 against the dc2, ek9, dc5?!? its not on9 anymore, but it came out with interesting results!

EP3 i dont like :angry2:

i'm getting the jdm model though, 220bhp.

i love EP3's as im the ex owner of a UK spec one and i loved it, dont get me wrong i think it was made for more comfort with performance then the ek9 which is just pure raw motor. but all in all the EP3 feels good, performance is good.

If i had to fault it, all i could say was not so aggressive and lack of feeling in the steering, apart from that i think you'll enjoy it very much so. ohh yeah almost forgot and honda UK not making them to JDM spec :(

You'll find the JDM EP3 is 215bhp not 220, the DC5 ITR is 220bhp and the Accord Euro-R is 218bhp all with the mighty K20 i-vtec lumps

215, close enough, whats the difference, ecu map?

driven a few uk ep3's myself and i agree it is a bit vauge, but i just fancy it, newer, lower mileage etc.

not expecting it to be AS good as the ek9, but if its NEARLY as good then i'll be happy.

As with 'old skool-R' - my last car was a UK EP3, got bored of it within 3 months. It was fast, but it was just uninteresting, it was easy to 'drive fast'.

The JDM EP3 is a much better car though, looks/LSD etc. I hope you don't regret it! 88k is nothing on a B16B :\

nothing i dont think.....i know the JDM EP3's have different cams, compression ratio's and of course the LSD.

i've heard the JDM ones are more livlier and rev happy than the uk specs.

raced a DC5 in my old EP3 and without the LSD in my car it made a massive difference + the extra 23bhp.

Enjoy your new car my friend :D never forget the :ek9:
