Muffler condition?

I wonder how much performance different if the muffler is toasted. I bought a stock EK9 muffler which has some lose parts inside. I can heard the lose parts inside when i shake the muffler. Is muffler no good? Or it is just louder without affecting the performance? Thanks!

will be much louder and if in bad state greatly affects performance ie imagine all packing is broken up and blocking exhaust gas exit, if its not that at that point now it wont be long before it will be
