I'm not sure wether to get a set of front mud flaps for my nine, I'm getting some paint work done in the next couple of months and a bit paranoid about it getting fooked within the 1st couple of days.

So what do you guys think about them looks wise?

I'm still a little undecied if I like the look of them but want to keep the car looking great for as long as possible.

hi mate i have black honda mud flaps on front and rear of my car (ek9)..they were on it when i got it ..i do like the look of them so wouldn bother takin them off but dont think they really protect the paint work as i still get tar spots all over the arches like any other car (thank god for tar remover!!)how ever they were on the car when i bought it like i said so mayb it would be worse without them ha:D(you can see them i think if you click on to my profile and my pictures)just checked my pictures there an you can only really see them in one side picture but not good enough to make you have a good idea

I was thinking more of stones chipping the bottom of the doors where it curves in before the skirt. Can't really avoid tar spots like you said.

I have seen a few pictures now but maybe if I saw them in the flesh it would help me make up my mind!

I can kinda see it. Have they just been left as they come, no paint on them?

I was thinking of getting them painted the same as the car but would make them stand out more! hmm may get them in black...

yeah mine are unpainted and just have the hodda logo and word honda on them.. i have just removed all tar spots on my car last week and gave it a good polish but i think the part of the car you are on about have the small stone chips but not noticable at all ...again i am not sure how bad it would be compared to a car with out mud flaps..you would think i would be of more help when i actually have them !!ha sorry mate ;)

Ah thats ok. The only real stone chips I have are on the front edge of the wing where the flap would be but I wouldn't really want to risk a stone putting a big gash down the door if I didn't get them.

I've been browsing loads of photos and still can't really decide! :(

I could always get them and just keep them unpainted and see if they actually do a good job and then also see if I actually like them on the car!

Any body else got front mud flaps painted or unpainted and like the look?

I had some front ones on mine, they looked ok but scraped on speedbumps ect as my car is lowered, was abit annoying after abit so I took 'em off.

I'm still at standard height but there is a speed bump just as I pull into work but it's more like a small kerb so could catch them on that. :(

I think if I got a pair I'd keep them unpainted else that would be a waste of money if I nakkered them up straight away!

i would keep them unpainted mate if you do get them as they get filthy dirty so better off if they do not stand out...my car is lowered also on mugen coilovers and i never notice them rubbing off the ground to be honest .

I've got front mudflaps on mine (unpainted) and I don't really like them.. They take away the line of the car as the arch meets the side skirt. But I have no stone chips down the side so I suppose they do I good enough job to keep them on.

Soxturf: Good point. Now you've said that I think I would keep them unpainted as they would get caked! also get ruined fairly quickly if they where painted :nono:

LowJoe: I was thinking it would take the line away especially as I really like the way it looks with out them.

I did manage to find a page on an american forum dedicated to mud flaps! but was really handy for me! Some cars look cool and others not so good.

I think it mite be worth sourcing a pair from a scrappie and chucking them on for while, see how they go. Then I won't be wasting mega bucks on them.

Just thought I could keep them on for daily driving and just take them off for shows etc.

Thanks for your input guys! :nice:
