Hey all, was just wondering the key areas the guys look for when doing the MOT test for your car.

I stripped the back seats out and the seatbelts and was wondering since a few of the guys here have done it whether they have passed doing this or not? My car doesn't feel like it needs anything done badly but if anyone cares to share some info, it'll be greatly appreciated.

The main items tested are
Emissions
Brakes (on a rolling road)
Abs light (it should NOT be on)
Lights inc fog light not inc reverse lights
Headlight aim
Front wipers
Winscreen condition
Seatbelts (front rear and centre lap belt)
Seat security front and rear
Engine bay for oil/fuel/fluid leaks
Under vehicle pipes and hoses
Suspension and steering components front and rear(suspension relaxed with wheels off the floor/ramp)
Cv gaiters (only outer ones a failable)
Body corrosion

In your case with the seats and seat belts removed they wont need testing as there not there, feel free to check the car over your self in these areas as if you find anything it will save you money and time for a re test if it fails.

See how you do ;)

make sure all your lights are working fine and your washer bottle has fluid in it. there's not many things worse than failing for silly little things.
also if you have a spare wheel make sure the tread on it is ok.
i usually fire some injector cleaner in the fuel tank and take it a good blast just before the mot, makes sure there's not loads of rust on the brakes.
think its now a instant fail as well for aftermarket hid's but im sure someone will confirm

Thanks lads, appreciate taking the time to help me out. I'll tell you how it goes on Feb 11'
