Hi everyone, I've owned my ek9 for around 7 years now, and the last few years have had trouble getting it thru the emissions test (high CO).
I'm at that time of year again and had it checked a week before mot, reading was 0.399 CO, had valve clearances done then taken it back and reading around 0.7 CO (although it was standing for a little while before this test). Car is running really smooth, better since having valve clearances done. Thing is I've been reading info for emissions from driver vehicle standards agency 'in service exhaust standards for road vehicles' document; and it states that for cars post 1995 (mine is Nov 97) not mentioned in the 'annex', they will be tested using the criteria for older cars which is CO below 3.5. I have looked down the list and ek9 is definitely not on it! This makes sense as the tester said he couldn't find it on their system.
If this is the case, then ek9's shouldn't have to meet CO<0.3, it should be CO<3.5.. this is obviously a lot easier to pass : )
I phoned them about this today and am waiting to hear back..
If this proves correct it will save a lot of us from a lot of ball ache!!
