Anyone have experience of these?

Really enjoying MX-5 ownership and plan on sticking a few more loving £££'s into it soon but want a project to get stuck into and dust off the welder.
 
My mate has one, they rust CRX style or even worse! Not much in terms of power but they look cool, feel very sporty and there is just something ''right'' on the mid engine rwd setup, if you know what I mean. If you go after one be prepared to travel and see a few before you find one that's worth it. Insurance is cheap, and they were (maybe still are) very cheap to buy, so a lot of them ended up in the hands of ''non enthusiasts'' and are therefore in a poor nick.
 
Yeh, the engine is getting on a bit but you can put a V6 in it or even the 3SGTE engine and have 250-300bhp on tap. I'm seeing the come up for sale more locally now but haven't viewed one yet other than in a car-park!

Had originally thought of buying a VX220 turbo but in the Elise variants I just don't feel safe on the road with the huge amount of idiots you see driving about these days so would rather have a car that's a bit safer and I can put a cage in.
