Just picked up a pair of type R folding mirrors im taking them in to get painted. the problem is im having is get them apart and removing the mirror’s is there a trick or secret that I’m missing

You need to remove the mirror glass first, which then allows access to several screws holding the plastic mirror assembly together. It's tricky to do, and a bit nerve wrecking as you don't want to crack the glass, but possible with a bit of care. I ended up putting some gloves on, and squeezing my fingers behind the glass to pop it away from the plastic connectors.

Only problem you might encounter later is removing the screws - one of mine has rusted so badly I couldn't remove it, so probably going to have to drill it out. Also when you split the two plastic halves apart, be aware there are two small plastic clips which can easily be broken
 
there is a certain way glass should be removed but ive forgot, someone needs to take pics of rear of glass that has plastic piece stuck on and when you look at how it mounts onto piece within mirror it makes more sense
