Thought I'd put this up here as was at brands hatch yesterday lovely wet weather was going great until this happened

So wanted peoples opinions as I never imagined this happening the manifold is a Jasma stamped 5zigen manifold and also could anyone advise me a replacement manifold to get which won't have this happen to it

Potentially this could happen to any manifold. Stainless steel is quite a brittle metal and prone to cracking on engines that have a lot of movement. On a track day the engine will me moving about a fair bit. Looks fairly old though so this would of been part of the problem and its just given up at the weakest point.

I would make sure all the engine mounts are in good order plus make sure the rest of the system is ok and the rubber hangers are in good shape then just get a new one or get someone to repair it for you.

Edit: Just noticed it looks like there is no spring bolts on the manifold flange so this would of been the issue. there needs to be a some give at that point else it will snap just as yours has.

was thinking of looking into flexi pipe but hopefully spring bolts will work

So you didn't have spring bolts?

nope couldn't get the oem spring bolts in as there is around 30mm gap between flanges of manifold & catback and spring bolts wouldn't reach will look at getting some springs on longer bolts though

As robbie stated sprung bolts are a must at the manifold flange.

I had a 5zigen pro-race manifold for years with no issues, Most of the jdm manifolds are good tbh its quite rare to see this happen.

EDIT: iv always used oem spring bolts with aftermarket headers, they are a ball ache to fit. Have to squeeze the flanges together with big grips but its usualy not impossible.

Thanks for all your advice won't be overlooking spring bolts in a hurry again :)

No problem Luke.

Same here, had to get the mole grips out and squeeeeze!

Take it you had an off? Plenty of grass about lol Let me guess it was sertees and the rear came round?

nope lol stayed on track all day makes such a difference with new setup a much more predicable drive I pulled off as soon as this happen as I thought part of it had fallen off so I pulled over it happened around druids I pulled over on cooper straight that's where grass is from I was really impressed with how the car performed there was a supercharged ep3 which spun out trying to keep up mind you 300+ horses will only help wheelspin in the wet

Yeah these are great on track. Power doesn't count for too much until you hit the faster tracks really.

as said its because you didn use the spring bolts. Too much tension on the flange and just weakened

Yeah cheers all will sort out a spring asap :) yeah the ek civic's definitely surprise a lot of people on track

I'll have a mugen manifold for sale in the coming months if your interested, not sure on price yet as it's alittle damaged from speed bumps

Hav a plm toda rep on my b18, made gud power with it and there very well priced,
