macbook or macbook pro?

Seriously, I paid $950 (661 Euro) for my laptop which is spec'd higher than those Macs and that was almost a year ago. 2.2GHz Turion X2 RM-74, 4GB of RAM, 400GB HDD, ATI Radeon HD3200, Blu-Ray/DVD-burner combo drive, 17" screen.

Don't waste your money on a Mac based on myths.

How can you compare an AMD to intel CPU. again NVidia is better than ATI graphics.

MACs are very well spec machines I have a macbook PRO non unibody with 2.4GHZ C2duo I can sell this after 2 years and get 700 GBP back if i was to sell it which PC do you know has a such a good resell value?

I used PC's for over 14 years I just can't stand spyware viruses ETC I don't need to run a internet security package with my mac and I can look at porn all day long without the worry of being infected :D

Are you people ignoring the 3rd party part? Apple doesn't like you using 3rd party stuff so they make it hard to use anything but their stuff. It doesn't just work.

If you look at my post you can see I edited after re-reading your other post, I missed the 3rd party bit.

Yes I agree making 3rd party wifi adapters on a mac is a pain... but now all macs come with wifi anyway so whats the need?

Sorry for missing that. But desktops do not come with wifi or at least the Power Macs don't I'm not sure about the iMacs. But there's other **** that is annoying on a Mac as well that's simpler in Windows or Linux (more specifically Ubuntu, the idiot's Linux... that's the one I use).

And I can compare AMD to Intel easily and no nVidia isn't better than ATI. I have both. I run nVidia in my desktops and only nVidia. But laptops I prefer ATI. Their mobile performance has typically proven themselves better from my experiences. Also, ATI currently produces the most powerful cards on the market right. Only a select few games run better on nVidia hardware. But I have high hopes for the new Fermi or whatever it's called that nVidia is working on.

See and that is just more ignorance thrown around right there. It's everywhere.

Mac not better than PC but neither is it the other way around. It depends on the situation. I flat out don't like Macs all around but I still think they are great for professional uses like audio, graphic, or video. PC is more flexible and modular but due to this (and the stupidity of some users) they are more prone to issues.

Intel is not better than AMD nor is AMD better than Intel. Budget system, AMD, more money than sense, Intel.

nVidia is not better than ATI but again, ATI isn't better than nVidia either. As it stands, ATI has the most powerful chip on the market. However, despite the 5000 series' theoretical abilities, some games still perform better on the less powerful nVidia GT200 architecture.

Everything has its pros and cons. It just drives me up the wall when people blurt out untrue statements such as been thrown around in this thread. Get your head out of your ass and I'll shut up.

Didn't touch on these parts:

Resell? I don't even want to resell this ****. They are so cheap to start that there's no point. My last laptop was incredibly reliable and did everything I needed. I paid an enourmous... $425 for it (260 GPB). That little bastard could even play HD video. BUT, it couldn't play any game more taxing than StepMania though (that's why I have a desktop too though). My current laptop, again $950 but that's 583 GBP. So while some poor schmuck is buying a used underpowered Mac, I'm buying a brand new more powerful PC.

And if you had issues with Spyware and viruses, then you're just not good with computers. My parents don't know **** about computers but I've taught them very basic measures to keep their PC's running smoothly. Both of their computers are cleaner and better functioning than most. Actually, they run perfectly. Especially my mom's. It's impeccably clean.

The secret you ask? Why, what any true professional would say:

1. A good free Anti-Virus. AVG and Avast are great. I use Avast cause it's lightweight and does a good job detecting any possible nasties. I never get any on mine but it cleans up customer computers quite well.

2. A good free anti-malware program. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is the best out there. It cleans up various things an anti-virus doesn't catch/look for.

3. Surf smart, be smart about the emails you get, and don't open/run suspicious files. Scan things you've downloaded before opening/running, even if they seem safe.

And if you wanna be paranoid, turn UAC on. It's annoying but it basically makes Windows act like Linux or Mac OSX. Yes, that's why Macs seem invulnerable to viruses. It requires root permission for anything to run. If you are an Admin in with UAC disabled in Windows, then your computer has root permissions permanently enabled. In Ubuntu, I'm required to enter my root password to install anything or do anything that changes system settings. That's what keeps viruses and the like at bay. Permissions are also required in Mac. But there are still ways around all this meaning Macs are not impervious.

The point I was making was Apple is too proprietary and not very user friendly in some areas. You have to do a bunch of roundabout **** to make a 3rd party wireless adapter work while in Windows or even in Ubuntu, it's pretty straightforward. Your iPhone has a built in adapter. That ****'s all fine and dandy because Apple made it. But if you own a Mac desktop and buy a 3rd party adapter your gonna have a bitch of a time setting it up. And besides, your talking about a damn phone and not a computer. I'm talking about Mac's computer hardware and their OSX being ass backward retarded.

And I won't chill out with Mac snobs, particularly ones who say stupid **** like they never get viruses.

I'm gonna leave a quote from a guy who knows his ****. This was in response to a thread in which there was somebody asking about Macbooks and made a similar stupid statement:

As you can well figure out, I'm not a fan of Macs. But I agree with him on the professional bit. I think Macs are actually pretty nice for Graphic, Video, and Audio work, but if you aren't doing any of those, then they are pointless. Even then, you can do the same stuff on a PC but resources for graphic, video, and audio work are more readily available for Mac it seems.

Thats the ONLY reason why im getting a mac! Haha. Im in GFX Design :)
