Hi all I'm not looking for any lectures as I'm asking this so if it comes to it ill be 100% legal, I'm just wondering how much it boosts up for insurance once declared, for example. I'm 20 I have 1 years no claims and a 1.4 is £1400. I have no idea how much it will rise if I change the engine so any rough quotes would be great, thankyou

When I was 19 and had 2 years no claims, I got quotes for around £2400 for a B18 swap. Yours would probably be more as when I was 20 I was only paying £1000 to insure my ek9

Quite a lot extra then, how do you go about trying to get a quote? Would I have to ring them as I can't do it online? Thanks for the reply

yh just phone them but you will get a fright i think, but saying engine swap to an insurance company is like shouting bomb in an airport

Haha cheers Ross, well I know there are a few engine swap insurance companies like brentacre ect, which give decent quotes from what I've heard, it's something that ill have to look into :) thanks for your help guys

Try Adrian Flux and google modified insurance companies too. Sometimes you can get good deals as people that spend a lot of time and money on vehicles can often take more care driving. They may also insure it at a higher rate but part of the cover may be that they will only replace it with the original engine and not the one transplanted in.
