from experience any tips on launching? :drive:

sick of spinning when starting off hard....

even with a rolling start my car still spins through 1st in dry with good tyres and cusco diff:(

any tips for getting off the line best...incl psi for fronts:nice:

thanks

well dude your bound to spin in firdt due to that firdt gear has the most torque reson why is becase that pull you out of a dead stop, if you whant to launch from a dead stop rev up to 3 4k sounds a little harsh keep it there relese the clutch and go. if you dont have LSD tranny your gona have more spin then anything and if you whant to line it up with some one i say you do it in second gear not first your justgone turn the whole street in to smoke. lol do it from second in a high rpm and there you go

TYRES-TOYO PROXIE T1R 195
CLUTCH GENUINE EXEDY STG ONE ORG.+FLY
CUSCO TYPE MZ DIFF
S80 BOX WITH 4.7

now i usually hold it around 4.5k and gently let clutch out but it just keeps spinning upto the point were i have to fully let off and it grabs grip..

i just feel the car could get off the line ALOT quicker with a better way the tackle the launch so thats why i want advice...no point saying im launching perfect

ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT :):nice:

I was thinking the same thing, to reduce wheel spinning, and i decided to try with the a/c on just for the launch.

i sit at 3.5k keep it stead then straight off the clutch as i comme straight off clutch i go straight down on acc i get a lil squeek thats all running same tyres as you but mine is 1.6 1.8 have more torque but u seem bit high at 4-5k

no idea man i hitting 14sec 1/4mile...
0-100kph avrg of 5.5 but i got 5.1 before ...

Before i start i am no expert and what i offer is simply from my own experience.

I have found what i will say to be an effective method. (2.1 and 2.2 60ft)

I would say to hold the revs at around 3k on staging. Then when you go to green slip the clutch. In other words feed the power in as you bring the clutch up. This may cause the wheels to spin however i would not worry. Many drag racers allow up to 20% slip of the tyres as it helps to get you going with out bogging down.

It is a case of practicing and seeing what ratio to bring the power in as the clutch comes up. you want a little spin but not to much. As you start practicing you will see what i mean, the tyres will be spinning but you will feel the accel still.

I have managed to get 2.1 60ft times using this method on road tyres and no LSD. Also check your camber you want as much tyre on the floor as possible. Negative camber looks cool but it doesnt make you fast ha ha. Any more questions?

Or yes tyre pressure. This depends on your compound etc. I would say keep reducing the pressure a little at a time until you feel the car becoming a little twitchy on top on this way you will know that they are too soft and will want more pressure in.

A good way to check is to find some nice clean tarmac and them do a little rolling burn out. Once you have done that look at the tracks you leave. if the tyres are at a good pressure they should look even in colour and be the full width of your tyre. Too much pressure and the lines will be darker in the middle. Too little pressure and they may be darker to the outsides.

all about throttle and clutch control.

i find having the rev about 4k, and play the clutch in while feeding more power, keep it until wheels get a grip and then full throttle.
