Kris's DC2

awsome thread, keep up the good work, im eager to see this build if its half as good as your ek one :)

I doubt this one will be as extreme as the EK with regards to being a track car, but we're hoping it will be pretty special engine wise.

As for Rollers, probably use the one that Clockwise motion use up in Birmingham as thats where all the mapping will take place, so seems only right to stick to the same rollers throughout the various satges!

Love it mate!

Funny that after looking at this of yours, started my thinking to getting a uk dc2 & i ended up with a Red one too! lol:nice:

Mine is no were near as clean as this though!:((

Jimbob......its only clean as its been painted a few times (in the wrong bloody shade) of red) :D.... so its not as mint as it seems, but then the whole point of buying it was simply to have a base car for a few choice mods that will be coming my way. I didnt want anything mint as you end up being really precious about it and I didnt want that, just wanted something fun that I could use and abuse :nice:

CW.....The head will be a stock head to start as I want to see what gains can be had from a simple block change and upping the cc to 2000cc. Will do a back to back rolling road session to see what the difference is between a stock motor and one with a 2.0 litre bottom end with Cosworth Pistons. Then after that we I concentrate on the head as I have a few plans for that aswell if all goes well :secret:

Hey Kris hows it going tegs looking nice. Will be interesting to see what gains you get from extra 200cc.

As you no longer have the civic does this mean we wont be seeing you out in the nippon challange this year????

Not for a few months mate No, but I will doing Cadwell, Mallory and Brands in Mikes K22 EK Civic Race car so I will be out at some point mate, but sadly not at Snett :((

To be fair mate mine is the same, the two rear quarters have been painted (think the archies have been replaced at some point) & the rest of the car is slightly faded!
But as you say, i wasnt looking for a minter as this is my family car now (Mrs has to use too:nerv:) & my little man will mess up the interior at some point too! lol
I just wanted a good solid car that needed nothing doing, which is what i got!:)

Look forward to reading more about your mod's as they come!!
Im sure i will see you at some of the nippon events this year!:nice:

So, the new 2.0L engine is in the first stages of the build so time for an update, although further updates should be thick and fast

Mike has taken some pics of the first stage of the darton install aswell as the Cosworth Pistons

Spec on the pistons are as follows.........................

Cosworth slipper pistons
Full 3D CNC undercrown machined
Xylon coated, polished crowns
Fully floating gudgeon pins
Made with Patented coworth alloy - arguably the best piston material of any manufaturer.

Heres a few pics of the pistons, the block after it was machined, the liners and the block with the liners in. It is yet to be "surfaced" and then a torque plate fitted and CNC bored, followed by honing and then plateaux honed 8)

Enjoy

Looks good, is all the machine work being done by Clockwise Motion? What CR ratio is this going to end up running?

Yep Ian at Clockwise is putting the engine together and CR is 12.5:1 but possibly a bit higher depending on headowrk etc

This looks like it's going to be a very nice engine indeed!:D

What work is going on with the head???

For now we are trying to stay as close to OEM as possible as we want to see what gains can be had by fitting the 2.0L block aone, so it will be a stock head with EK9 cams and Adjustable cam gears.

Once we've seen the gains from the block, then we will start to fit a host of other new parts we've got lined up :secret:
