KOOL JACCS INTEGRA

Little update then big update. Firstly @Cam_eghatch changed his pcv so monkey see monkey do and as i love a bit of maintenance i chucked a new one on the teg.

Next up, story time. For the past few years ive had a right horn for period correct one make and jtcc liveries. And one in particular kept catching my eye on a 98 spec dc2 in japan, ive followed the owner for a good bit and finally plucked up the courage to ask if i could use it as inspiration for my own. So i discussed the plans with stevie from Hiro Racing whos an absolute wizard with liveries and has done a few including a gathers dc2, the world famous bride ae86 and did his own ef9 in a jps style setup. After 6 months of talks we arranged with stevie and ciaran about them coming over for a long weekend to see scotland and throw some vinyl onto the car. After a couple of nights in the garage this was the result.

Im honestly over the moon with it. Its worked out exactly as i imagined it. A credit to stevie the man knows what hes doing. If you need anything sticker related hit up @st3ph3nr on insta. To make the weekend even better. 2 days after the livery was done the car won a top 5 trophy at banzai crail on the show n shine after spending most of the day running the strip

Recently i realised my youngest child is either too big or small for any baby seats that fit in the dc2 so for the remainder of the year its pretty free from family duties. With that said, the zerofighter is back on the car! I have a couple of events planned before the end of the year so will get out and make some noise before the winter.

Well the joy was shortlived. Friday night i pulled 2nd and never made it to 3rd, the b18c is dead. Whatever happened a valve has put a big hole in one of the pistons.

Going to strip down and assess the extent of the damage this weekend. Currently hunting for a suitable replacement to put in. Hopefuly not long until its running again!

Genuinely feel bad for ya,hope ya get sorted soon.love seeing updates on this car

That's a shame, hopefully you can source a fresh engine , a good B is hard to get now.
Do not worry! I have sourced a good b18c6 (uk spec yes i know) about half an hour from my house. The lad is well known in the local honda scene as being a good guy too AND its coming with a money back guarantee. If i fit the engine, and im not happy in any way i can bring it back and get my money back! Ill get the old engine out tomorrow and update from there but have no fear. The koolteg will be back!

Thats a proper shitter man.

Had similar happen to mine because the timing was massively out due to cam angle sensor issue

Well folks. Ive well and truly f***ked it.

After a full strip down over a couple of nights in the garage with the lads and discussions with some of the local honda lads we have concluded the cause of this mess is detonation. Timing was sound and the collits and retainers were all still in place so it hadnt dropped a valve. But hey go big or go home right? The only things saveable are the cams, valve springs/retainers and the crank shockingly. Pistons 1 3 and 4 got off light but piston 2 has been split in half! The cylinder wall has cracked in 2 places and the head is toast! Also we found a couple of valve heads had been booted back up the inlet mani and found their new home inside intake port 1.

So after much thought and discussions with friends and family im forced to do something i never thought id do.

We going kswap baby!

The past 2 weeks have been a total headf**k for me as i was under the impression that my engine was perfect. Never used oil between services, barely a puff of smoke through the full rev range and pulled so well for a standard car. I spoke to a lot of friends and aquaintences in the local honda scene and the verdict was unanimus. B series stuff is just way to expensive to not go K. For the price of a new engine and from the cash ill bring in selling off the b series parts im hoping to have it back on the road by may time.
Im not going daft here, keeping it simple and reliable is the goal. Ive already picked up a k20a2 with loom and ecu from @RyanSi who is an absolute legend. He also had a set of RDX410 injectors and an oem Dc5 shifter he did a good deal on! I then picked up an ep3 gearbox from a local lad and a PLM style manifold from Japcom. Next on the hit list is an Rbc inlet manifold, conversion harness and a set of billet kswap mounts and thats the basic setup all aquired. Ill obviously be doing a full overhaul on everything, seals, gaskets, oil pump, timing chain ect before it all goes in.

Ill update on here as i go but ill also be filming the full process for my youtube channel @limiterbashbrotherhood so go subscribe so you dont miss anything!

Believe me, its a hell of a lot cheaper than the repair job you would have had.

Looking forward to seeing this progress
Im noticing that now. Bar obviously maintenance parts its a joke how cheap a kswap can be

Ive started building up a parts list as i sell off the b series stuff and any spares i dont need/want.
First out the bat was a fuel setup, i found a lad breaking his kswap dc2 so grabbed a ktuned conversion harness, radium engineering fuel rail, fpr, fuel pressure guage, inline filter, tegiwa alloy rad braided clutch line+slave cylinder and hybrid racing shifters.

I then hit up tegiwa for a bunch of service parts to refresh the engine, timing chain, guides and tensioner. Oil pump, pump chain, guides and tensioner, walbro 255 and an array of gaskets and seals.

Finally for now, i managed to grab myself a 70mm ported RBC inlet manifold at a reasonable price so ordered myself a throttle body adapter for it to run the oem ep3 TB.

I also opted for some ebay kswap mounts as ive heard good things about them especially for the cost. Ironic as when they arrived they had hasport etched into them

Now the prep begins. Last i was in the garage i pulled the power steering system and looped the rack as im yet to decide what to do with that but ill leave it for now. I then removed the a.c as its a total faff for something ill use twice a year.

The engine bay needs a major clean as one of the cv boots popped a while back so next job will be a bay detail. Im also going to remove the clutch line and abs to give me a bit of space and drill off the passenger side mount. Once that is done i can get a move on to get the car running again!
