Kirkistown 10April2011 - Fun with videos.

Nice vids, you's lads had some crack together on the track and that's what it's all about!!

Vids turned out 100x better than my gypo camera :nice:

Those videos were recorded with an 18mega pixel camera, but in fairness I had to compress the **** out of them to get them to upload..

I had an in car camera aswell , just waiting on the mate to bring me his laptop so I can get the vids off it, to see how they turned out..

Yeah was brilliant craics when you have a few mates in equal caliber cars to play about with.. can't wait for the next day in may now.. after showing a few friends the vids they want to bring up their cars now .. a wrx impreza, and even a 1.4 civic!

I couldn't get over how rapid your car was out of the bends.. the standard box I have is needing replaced with a 98 dc2 box...... or I might just sell the civic and buy a dc2! Lol

Well the more the merry'r, it would be nice to see even more honda's on the track

My car improved coming out of the corners alot after the remap as there is more mid range power now and the gears also help. To be honest I had to brake more than normal behind you going into the chicane as I would normally be going into it a bit quicker but that will be down to the coilovers and tyres imo

I take it you use 3rd gear for all of the bottom corners including the chicane?

The dc2 is a perfect car to start with for the track, used to own one myself and was doing 1:13s at Kirkistown with standard gears etc

I was using 2nd gear on the bottom corners, Fishermans, chicane and hairpin. But was changing up to third half way through most of them... The b16 needs the high revs and she would drop out of VTEC using third... That’s another reason to change the box or the car! I tried lowering the VTEC crossover point on the APEXi but that’s not configured, so it was hesitating too much.

Yeah coilovers would be a good buy... The only parts non Honda on my car are the brake pads, cat back exhaust, and induction... OEM parts can only go so far I reckon...

But then that’s the way I like it... If I start spending big money on the car, I’d be holding back on some high speed cornering, and I’m not doing that!! I could walk away from that car if I had to and have a giggle about it over a few pints in the pub! lol But in saying that apart from leaving the brakes a little too late the odd time, I havent had any scenarios that risked the car.. Its very well behaved on track the way it is..

Exactly mate the car gives you as much fun as any other car on the track and doesn't cost you enough to worry too much about it! My car on the other hand stands me a small fortune and the main reason that I don't go as hard as I could or brake as late as I could and just generally be a bit more cautious. Sometimes I wish I had went down the cheaper route like yourself

I have always used 3rd gear for all of the bottom corners including the chicane, even when I had the standard ek9 gears and I was always just touching vtec at 6k through the middle the bottom corners and on vtec through the chicane. Im in 5th gear through debtors now lol!!

3rd gear?? jes maybe im just chucking it into the corners... need to drive a bit smoother i reckon..

would you recommend the wider 225 tyres you have up front for better cornering and getting the power down in the bend?

Yes 3rd gear is perfect for me but if you are finding it hard to stay on vtec in 3rd then you really need 2nd or you will have a lack of power out of the corners.

The only reason that I bought the 225's was that they came up 2nd hand on ebay at a very good price with loads of tread! I dont think that they made much difference over a sticky 195 as the 225's I got are hard compound but they last very well because of the harder compound. Another reason that I had so much oversteer is prob also because I had such a wide tyre up front and a narrow tyre on the rear
