2012 Si's and all the models from Honda which still have K20/K24 engines will have direct injection engines the i-VTEC I versions. This engine was first produced in 2004 and was in Honda's Stream 7-seater MPV in Japan but then fade away but now Honda/Acura will put this engine in his new line of cars. Let's hope for a Type R version with this engine! I believe benefits of this are :
1) Injection pressure can be regulated
2) Better fuel distribution and better fuel charge inside the combustion chamber
3) During the injection process the fuel gets evaporated, cooling the cylinder chamber
4) Higher compression ratios, which translates into more power
5) Increased fuel combustion efficiency
6) Higher power during pick-up of vehicle
