i need help guys , just to get rid of the last two codes ( i had 4 lol) .

Ive put an obd1 b16a2 into my 99 ej9 with the obd1 ecu for the engine
ive used an ek9 engine loom ( i have cut and sorted the plugs for the conversion ) but this isnt to do with the codes its throwing .

my ecu is throwing the codes 3 and 14 , which is the map sensor and the IACV , ive taken the IACV off and cleaned it and i took the thottle body off and cleaned that aswell , but its still throwing these codes .

The thing is i dont have a plug on my tb for a map sensor ? so you would think the ecu wouldnt look for one ?

I have done the throttle body coolant bypass could this be triggering both the CEL's ?

Also should i be getting a reading at the plugs for the sensors in ohms or volts?

Any help/Advise would be greatly appreciated.

Andy.

wait...are you telling us that you have NO map sensor at all on your engine?

yeah , the engine was out of a delsol . where the map sensor was mounted on the bulkhead , the newer models had a tb mounted map , my engine does not have a map sensor on it so i persume i need to buy another tb with a map sensor on it !.:)

Well you obviously need a map sensor, you can't run without it. You need to see which sensor you have the plug for, are you using the loom that came with the engine? If so get yourself the firewall mounted map sensor

im using an ek9 loom , so the map sensor is usually mounted on the tb on ek9s . im going to get a ek b16 tb with the map sensor on the tb and try that. but this still doesnt explain the IACV?

i vaugely remember someone saying that the obd1 ecu looks for two wires to the iacv but i have 3 due to the loom im using ?

one step at a time, get your map sensor issue resolved first.

i got rid of the map sensor code , fitted the tb off an ek4 and it worked , the iacv is still playing up . its strange , when you slightly touch the throttle its like its got launch control but only at 1.5 rpm . there is a apexi vaf2 been cut into the loom i think the problem may be here , also my speedo wont work over 30 mph ?

The IACV can be cleaned, which I see you have done.
This too has happened to me, I ended up cleaning my IACV a few times. The first time I was successful but it only lasted for about a week, then back to-- not working properly. Then a few more times at cleaning it, without success. I ended up buying a new one from Honda, which fixed the issue and has been over 6 months now. These are not low cost items.

I recommend changing the IACV with a new one. Are you still having an issue with wiring up the IACV? Or did you get that resolved.

...launch control symptom could be your TPS being out of adjustment, check it with a volt meter, adjust if necessary. Let us know what you find on this.

Not much help but it seems EK9 engine looms are a bitch with anything other than a B16B. My brother also had similar problems with a EJ9, B18C4 and EK9 loom. Got it down to just the one problem which is it won't cold start without holding the throttle open. Other than this it's perfect but there's just no plug on the loom for the sensor on the middle of the inlet manifold.

Is that the IAT sensor Dan? Pretty sure it wouldn't cause that problem? Generally don't cause any symptoms unplugged

Edit: Ok scrap that, apparently it can. My bad ;)

its away to guy called henry roy in scotland , hes meant to be **** hot with hondas . he said that due to my loom having an apexi vaf2 that could be causing some issues . will find out by wed/thurs what the outcome was. (yn).
