Just installed my MUGEN 4-1 headers....weird sound.

Had my mugen headers installed today w/ test pipe. There is a very noticeable gain in accleration. But the sound it makes is kinda weird. Its like a high pitch sound. Is this normal? my test pipe is stainless steel. i havent checked yet is there is a leak on the test pipe. i will check it out tom. Im very happy with the power gain. btw, i also got AEM V2 intake but still using stock exhaust. Maybe the noise is coming from the airfilter? if i add a spoon n1 exhaust will there be additional gain in power? if i get aftermarket ecu & have it tuned would that be worth the cost?
 
My mugen sounds very raspy, sometimes metalic, or sounds like its blowing.

When you say a test pipe do you mean a stright through pipe????

If so this will most prob be the cause of your "weird" noise, i have always found that these stright through pipes sound really raspy/tinny. Resonated de-cats/test pipes are alot better for sound IMO.

Adding a decent exhaust system will defo give you gains, 2.5" exhaust is your best bet for NA.

Having a proper tune by a decent tuner is always worth it IMHO.
 
...that "sound" is common especially with a test pipe. Less noticeable with a cat but still there.
With a cast iron header its not there at all...but with a tube header you will hear it more. As common as water is to a fish.
 
jimbob, it is a straight thru pipe. The stock catalytic is very restrictive. I looked at it and there is a tiny hole going to the other side. Cant wait for my spoon n1. Btw, whats the correct product code for the N1? someone selling & just wanna make sure I get the correct one. Thanks.
