So yesterday my car died out in the middle of a roundabout, with no warning. No misfire, no running rough, no ecu light..

When I tried to turn it over, it doesn't start, just pops and bangs, just like in the video below.

I towed the car home and got a lift to work. After work, I tried the car again, and it started perfectly, ran and idled as normal. I switched it off and on about 20 times and scratched my head a bit.

This morning It started fine, drove to town fine, and after I came out from the shop, the same again. Still no ECU light staying on. I had to abandon the car and bum a lift to work... :angry2:

Does any one recognize these symptoms?

Its my first time in 14 years of honda ownership that I had to tow this one home. :(

Sounds EXACTLY like when my dizzy went - the pops and bangs are from the unburnt fuel that gets ignited in the exhaust on the odd occasion when the dizzy fires... I also ruined my backbox by doing this, it damaged the baffles a bit.

Crikey! Cheers for the heads up. Did you change the dizzy as a unit or just the coil or ignitor in dizzy itself?

Nothing worse than a randomn fault... :nono:

Car started up just fine there now and drove back to house.

I was lucky as I managed to get a cheap second hand dizzy on eBay ;)
