Is there anyone who has JRSC?

for the first time Dino you have me very confused...

im comapring turbo to SC who said anything about NA? i never said SC cant be intercooled...

i never said a turbo is "free hp". regardless of lag a properly sized turbo will make more low end tq and top end power than a roots, ive tested them on many customer cars and seen other people get the same results as well.

who are you talking about? all of wildemers motors i saw that i am referring to were supercharged with his aftercooler kit, whats all this NA talk? if he was making all that power NA then hell yes thats impressive, but all the numbers im refrencing were on boosted cars...

The whole time I thought you were badmouthing Wildmers NA builds, because when you mentioned the HP and TQ #'s it was so similar to what his 2.0 NA b-series motors make. I seriously thought you were comparing your turbo motor to his NA motors, my mistake.
I know that you realize superchargers can be intercooled/aftercooled, but I've seen some good results with these and it seems you really, really hate superchargers altogether. Some people like the fact that a supercharger makes it seem like you have a bigger NA motor.
You did say that turbo's are free HP, which I disagree with.
"this is hotly debated issue, turbo is free horsepower as it uses exhuast energy to make power, supercharger uses the crank to make power so it actually takes power to make power, usually takes about 15-30hp to spin a supercharger."

i dont hate them, i think the JRSC is an inefficient dinosaur and the certrifugal units are VERY overpriced, its just most of my customers were VERY dissapointed with them.

i did say that but that was in a different thread ;) what i should have said is there isent any parasitic loss, or more specifically if there is, its very minor.

if youve driven a JRSC honda and you like it then i think thats fine, but if youve never been in one and your expecting a huge power increase most people will be disapointed.

i hope not, those things are garbage imo...

*ahem*... :p

just busting your balls... I do admit that in the late 90s early bits of 2000, these things were cleverly marketed and for those who were uninitiated to the realm of forced induction, they seemed like a very attractive option.

Problem was the FMU and other associated fueling hardware that was included in their kits were ...as blinx said...garbage.

The costs to put together a kit from new would escalate beyond that of what a moderately priced turbo kit would cost and yet - as blinx also pointed out... would put out more power.

fast forward about a decade...give or take a few months...and if you take a look around...the JRSC/roots is still around and being offered new. Shame on them for not bettering their kits, but the used market is not exactly flooded with them. Often when they are offered, they're usually snapped up quick by those keen on knowing how to make some decent power from them for cheap.

Would I get one new? Yes, if I was sponsored :p ...would I get one used. Yes...no strings attached to that answer. :D

I agree with you that they are less efficient, they are not superior to turbo's but you should add to the Pro's & Cons thread that they don't have much "bang for the buck", much of the reason you don't like them. I only quoted you on the free hp thing because you had it pasted in this thread. I think the correct term would be "pumping loss" while superchargers would be parasitic loss.

its a shame they didnt make a bigger unit, that would be nice, most honda customers are happy with 350whp, if they had a blower that could produce that it would sell FAST!!
