Is it worth mapping this spec?

Finally getting some basic mods for the 9, want to know if people would suggest mapping even with 'stage 1' mods.

Planned spec.

Stock B16b internals (far as i know)
Spoon elbow/standard box/cold air feed
Tanabe 4-1 mani (heat-wrapped)
Tegiwa high-flow cat
Mugen Twin-loop b-pipe / back box.

I'm thinking of getting Will to map this on S300, is this going to be overkill, or is the increased 'driveability' from mapping worth it? I'm looking to do some track-days (inc a Ring trip) this summer.

Any advice :please:

Chris

definitly worth mapping , id get a aftermarket filter for the air box first if you havnt already , get the most out of it,

My EK9 has been mapped with Apexi Power FC by FC Tuning, and it has the basic breathing mods;

Mugen CAI
5Zigen 4-2-1 Manifold
Feels Hi-Flow Cat
Mugen Twin Loop Exhaust System

I find that the car is more responsive, more eager and just a pleasure to drive. It's just so much smoother going through the entire rev range.

Wanted to make sure that the B16B is running to it's full potential with the new parts.

Not a person to be chasing bhp, more concerned with driveability :nice:

Had this mapped for the past couple of years and I've loved every moment :)

If your close by, I'm more then happy to take you out for a spin/let you have a drive yourself, so you get an idea of the difference with of a mapped car :win:

Thanks for the quick replies, this community is the best!

I'll be saving some more pennies then!

Cheers guys

Chris

Plus you can get launch control on s300. And that's a win on its own!

In my opinion even mapping a standard car will show an advantage, as no two cars are the same, and as with most factory parts there is a compromise, would have made no financial sense for honda to tailor the the factory map to suit each individual car, you could hav two standard unmodified ek9's and one would be quicker, seen this manys a time.

YES!

Will did my b16 with s300 and similar spec. transformed the car!

Yes map the car, I had mine done on Chrome by Race Tech and the difference is made is phenomenal

how much has it cost you guys to get your car mapped?

I've never had an N/A car mapped but cant be much more than 200-250 surely?

Call up and ask a few places. Should be in the region of 200-300 earth pounds. Sure if you say where your based a few people might be able to recommend some other good tuners for yah to get some competitive prices etc.

Cost wise set aside 500 quid.
Cost for ECU - P28 / P30 / hondata bla bla bla
Harness (If needed)
Tune on Dyno

500 wow, id guessed about £300 max

im in mid wales, a long way from any decent tuning shop im guessing

P28/P30 socketed ECU - £70-100
Harness OBD1 to OBD2 - £50-70
Dyno tune - £300

Starts to add up to 500 quite easily.

true! hadnt thought about the harness. i keep debating to keep the car original and get the best out of a b16a or go wild with a b18/20

You can't guess on a cost for Mapping/Tunning, any good guy will give you a ball park figure and then you decide. If you only have 300 and the tuner takes the money , he's gonna be limited on how much time he spends on the numbers. I spent far more than that, but i had a very very good guy do my mapping/tunning and he has the attention to detail i required. With a header and intake mod i would defo get it tunned, how do you know it's not running too lean, i was and friked an exhaust valve.
