Been looking into importing a car for myself, I know theres plenty of people/companies who offer it but I like to do things myself, have a friend who is based in Japan so is easier.

Worked out the rough cost of the FOB, Shipping, Import Duty, Customs, Tax, VAT etc all to be around £3000, then add the price of the original purchase on top.

Just a quick enquiry/ wondering if anyone has done it before, imported a car personally.

and please no - just use a trader, etc. :)

Hi mate

My dad has imported a lot fo cars both for personal use and business use.

He used a compnay called trendy cars in japan they were great to deal with, the guys name was yasuo, and he spoke great english!

However now importing is costing a fortune as the price of the pund to the yen has dropped majorely and therefore your are paying a lot more now to import a car into the country compared to a few years ago.

It is also key to get a model report as they wont be allowed into a country without them!

I can pass on the details of the guy my dad used if u want?
