I've recently bought a b16a sir out of a del sol however the gearbox has it's markings/stickers removed and I have suspicion that it is a gearbox out of a mb6 on it rather than correct me if I'm wrong the y21 box that it should be? Is there any way of identifying what gearbox it is? It doesn't have a lsd. I don't have it in the car so can only tell visually.

Thanks Thomas

Anyone? Doesent seem like people bother with forums as much as before

The mb6 box has an lsd as standard, what makes you think its not a y21? Im not sure if there is a way without the codes but opening it up might be the only way buut thats alot of hassle

But do all mb6 boxes have an lsd standard? Because the chap I bought it off had a b18c4 in his car and I'm worried he could of swapped it, and the fact it's had a clutch change and the markings being peeled off are making me suspicious, I was just thinking there could be cast markings on it somewhere? I was wanting 4th and 5th out of it to upgrade to an s80 box and use them with it so it would be opened up then but would rather know before

only way to really know is to open the box and check ratios
