Ek9
Hello everyone long time since I’ve been a part of the community. If you check out my build thread from years ago you’ll see that I took a stock ish ek9 and went on a rollercoaster ride with it turning it from a nice example to a track car, boosted track car, to full blown hot hatch racecar! Check out Carguydiaries on YouTube as I documented the season.

After having success with the car I stupidly sold it to a friend, kswapped it for him then he sold it on, deep down a car I should have never sold.

I in the meantime built a stupid spec integra with an equally mentally spec’d engine. Then Covid happened, family bereavement, children and so on I came away from the Honda scene.

The journey I went on with my first EK9 made me what I am today, sounds corny I know! But I learnt so much which helped me in my day job (mechanic) But I do regret selling it but I don’t regret what I did to that poor car, looking back on it, it’s made me realise what an exceptional car the EK9 really is.

Which brings me to now, in December I’m soon to be a business owner which is a massive career step up for me and I can’t wait. So another Ek9 wasn’t on my radar right now……. But! Scrolling through marketplace as you do I saw a Ek9 for sale 8 miles away, the price was cheap by todays standards it was a nice day so I messaged the guy to see if it was still available. It was, so a bit of research on here and I found it was a forum car! R684 ENP. I actually took a photo of this car at japfest Silverstone in 2016!

Traced the history and previous owners, so I went a looked at it, the car had been through 2 more owners since the previous forum owner @Coughan sold it, the bodywork is tired and the paint is as flat as your hat! Mechanically though it’s still good no real rot, needs the rear arches doing again and the front wings and rear bumper, it’s just tired really. The interior looks great and very original, the car also hasn’t been heavily modified which appealed to me, lots of original parts. Original engine and gearbox and unmolested engine bay other than a mishimoto rad and ac delete.
Stacks of paperwork and lots of spare parts as well.
I went to view the car twice this weekend and today a deal was done and I bought it!

Absolutely over the moon, what a find on my doorstep. The plan with this car unlike my first ek9 is to bring it back to life to an almost totally oem+ spec and enjoy it. A rolling restoration as I’ll be using it as a daily driver (luckily the roads around me aren’t bad at all) cars are meant to be driven and life is to short to drive boring cars!

I’ll make a new “restoration build thread” when I pick up the car during the week, yes I still have the forum flag that a bought all those years ago! I will be an active member and hope to see you all at shows next year!

I used to do the forum stickers but I ran out, I’ll see if I can do them again.

Thanks guys and gals good to be back

Very good to see the car is still here with another forum user. When @Coughan sold it, i followed it when it went to the new owner but then lost who had it after.

Looking forward to see what you do with this

Good to see this is back in a forum members hands, be good to see what comes of it given your previous

Great back story and awesome to see you're back in an EK9! Looking forward to a refresh/build.

Picked up the Ek9 tonight with a big grin on my face! A wet and rainy night but it didn’t dampen my spirits!
She drove like a dream on the way home.

Had a quick look through the paperwork, the history with the car is amazing. Credit due to the previous owners.
Over its life in the U.K. I have found so far 5 invoices for de-cat pipes which is quite amusing!
