I just got my car serviced with Motul 5W30, about 4.2 liters of it...

The dipstick shows that the level is about slightly below half with the engine running/just turned off, but later shows about 3mm higher than the maximum mark after all the oil falls back into the oilpan.

My mechanic assures me this is alright, and is healthier as the engine will get sufficient oil in the bottom when it is running and in corners.

Im worried that it might be too much though? How much do you guys pour into your B16B?

4.2 litres sounds a lot but idont own an ek9, i didnt put anything like 4.2 litre in my MR2 roadster 1.8 lol

Hi, if iam correct, ur b16 engine should run with 4 litres of oil approx. Whilst on vtec ur engine is depending on oil pressure, so when hard cornering with less than 4 ltr of oil u might expierence that vtec misfires..!

Having more oil than marked by the dip stick is not recommended, therefore try fitting an oil pan...:nice: Spoon & Mugen both hve this upgrade for ur ctr..

"Oil pan reduces the risk of oil starvation during high G cornering, such as circuit or cornering at high speeds when street driving. The reduced risk of oil starvation means you can push your vehicle hard in the corners with confidence that the engine will receive the oil it critically requires for safe operation..!"

It's normal that the dipstick shows less oil level when the car is running, you will have to measure the oil level when the car is not on. In my opinion 4.2 liters of oil its too much for the b16!

I run 4 liters of oil in my ek9. :)

Also vtecroadhog is correct, is very important to upgrade to spoon & mugen oil pan, i will change to this kind of oil pan if i race with slick tires :woot:

I dont plan to track my car with slicks so I probably wont need such modified oilpans. :p

But I am concerned about the .2 liters of extra oil... would that small amount really make a difference in a large oilpan? I am a bit reluctant to have some oil removed as they may remove too much of it or whatever again.

Im hoping that there is a large gap between the crankshaft and the maximum oil mark to avoid oil foaming.
