How do I turn a short vid into a .gif?

I have a short 5-10 sec vid taken using my phone how or where can I turn it into a .gif file so I can use it as my profile pic so will need to be 100 by 100 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller).
Is there a website that I can use to do it?
Or some cheap/free software?

There are some shareware programs out there, looks like around $15-$20 USD if you were to buy it. Do a search on Google: "Video to Gif"
 
Just in case others wanted to know the same as me I did some searching and found that there's an iPhone app that let's you take a series of photos and turns them into a stop go animation that's a .gif file and you can email them direct from the app it's quite good it's called imotion and it's only 59p
 
If you want to make it your avatar it'll have to be absolutely tiny with only a few frames, better off doing it as a sig. This is one I did for my brother's account on here called J Male of his rally EK9.
