So been doing some jobs on the little CRX first was to fix the awful oil leak i had, which turned out to be the shaft seal on the gearbox. Me and my dad kept topping it up but i kept popping out of 5th after so long.
Anyway i took it to blanch how kindly replaced it for me and put more or less 2 litres of gearbox oil in, so it had leaked quite a bit! It hasnt jumped out of 5th since though so fingers crossed thats what it was.
Blanch also let me know the upper arm right bushing on the drivers said is worn so im considering buying some skunk 2 classic series front camber arms. Does any one have any experience with these?
I also had three engine light codes, no vtec and a bouncing rev counter.
Next up was a trip to see Billb who kindly plugged the vtec sub harness in for me and removed my engine codes. It may be worth pointing out at this time that the CRX had been to a garage who did work on the vtec solenoid apparently and my two codes where vtec solenoid related...
I had also purchased a new dizzy cap and rotor to try fix the jumping revs issue as the cap was cracked and only had one screw, bill went to remove the dizzy which was bolted in with one bolt which he removed using his hand... again the garage had repaired the dizzy with a new ignitor...
We replaced the cap and rotor and put some new bolts in and now its running sweet as a nut!
I also got my self some alpine speakers for the back to try and drain the walbro fuel pump noise
Next up bill gave me the spare wheel well cover so i set about putting the carpet in that i bought previously. I was going to use wood but this worked out as a much better option.
First off i cut it to fit round my ghetto battery box
This is wedged fairly tight, the wood use to jump when you went over a bump.
Layed the carpet out and cut it into a smaller square to fit straight into the car, pretty good piece of carpet for the money.
I didnt take many photos but i basically took the plastics out and layed it down cut it roughly to size placed the plastics back on and had this
I then trimmed the carpet to give it a flush fit ending up with this
I'm quite pleased with it and hopefully it might drown some of the walbro fuel pump noise out.
Next up on the list of tasks is, track rod ends and camber arms, either bushs or full new replacement. After this ill be looking to get some decent tyres.
