Hey guys,

Been lurking on the forum for years, but never really posted much. I recently sold my DC2 and I'm currently looking for something Honda to replace it with, so I thought I'd see what the EK9 hype is all about!

Here's the build up of my latest (copied and pasted from ITR-DC2.com):

Thought I'd put together a build seen as I've just randomly been taking pictures since I bought it. The car had a full engine rebuild early last year at Angelworks due to worn piston rings and excessive oil burning, it also had a gearbox rebuild at TGM the year before so everything is fresh!

Here's the spec it came with:

Engine:
- Spoon Panel Filter
- Spoon Engine Torque Damper
- Spoon B Pipe

Exterior:
- 15" Ultralight Wheels Wrapped In Hankook RS2 Tyres
- S2000 Aerial
- 8k HIDs

Interior:
- Sony Xplod CD Player
- Sparco Racing Harness

Chassis/Suspension/Brakes
- Dixcel Discs and Pads All Round
- HEL Braided Brake Lines
- Whiteline ARB (Front & Rear)
- Type R Front and Rear Strut Brace
- Carbing Front Lower Brace
- Cusco BMC Stopper

Some pics from the for sale thread:

Also cleaned up the exhaust a bit, weld splatter makes it look **** but better than before! :)

DSC_0039.jpg

Had this sitting in my garage for like 2 months so thought I'd make use of it!

Some extra compartments to replace the single din tray

And a package from Mr R

DSC_0023.jpg

Meister R Zeta-S! Had to get the Zeta-S for extra comfort, keep the gf happy

DSC_0027-1.jpg

Jacked up the back end, removed the rear suspension and then it started to rain, hard!!

DSC_0031-1.jpg

Never mind, carried on when it stopped, already undersealed the arches yesterday to save time, just had to do the bits behind the shock

DSC_0030.jpg

DSC_0034-1.jpg

Didn't get any pics during the install because of the rain, but after 5 hours of mainly waiting around, got them all on at a decent ride height, still want it lower tho!

DSC_0044.jpg

Only had time to take it for a quick drive but they are so comfy! Just as comfy as OEM if not more! :D

Hopefully it was stay that way when I lower it a bit more!

Spent 7 hours yesterday washing the car, the whole process consisted of:

- Wash with AG shampoo
- Clay with Megs clay kit
- Rewash with AG shampoo
- Dry with Sonus waffle weave
- Polish with AG super resin polish twice
- Wax with AG High Definition wax (£40 a pot!)

And here are the results :D

Also bought a Spoon Street backbox

DSC_0100-1.jpg

Hangs a bit low on a 96 bumper but I tried on my 98 one and it sits perfect :)

DSC_0098-1.jpg

Thanks guys!

Made a few minor improvemnts:

- Paint the lip Granada Black Pearl (was gloss black before!)
- Fixed the bonnet alignment
- Removed fat dent from bonnet!
- Touched up stone chips on bonnet/wing

Got given a compressor from my uncle, its about 10 years old but it was free! :D

DSC_0318.jpg

So had a go at spraying my lip myself, came out quite well I think! 8)

DSC_0161.jpg

Here's the dent after removal, mostly gone but there were 3 scratches inside it that had to be touched up

DSC_0323.jpg

Also started preping the bumper, going to have a go spraying this aswell once I get a better gun!

DSC_0309.jpg

Had to fill a total of 7 unused random holes!

DSC_0310.jpg

Recontruct the exhaust section (all of the grey section was a hole!)

DSC_0313.jpg

Fixed a few scratches

DSC_0315.jpg

Also went for a little shoot today :D

Small update

Finally installed my FLP shifter
DSC_0158.jpg

Got a Carbon plug cover from Mr Teshi
DSC_0122.jpg

Getting some parts together for a big service before winter, just waiting on my oil filter, fuel filter and magnetic drain bolts
DSC_0166.jpg

Got a second hand Exedy Stage 1 clutch
DSC_0142.jpg

Not sure when it will go in though as the weather is terrible these days!
DSC_0161-1.jpg

Beading is cool though 8)
DSC_0128.jpg

Also had a custom 2.5" b pipe made from Solid Fabrication, feels alot more free flowing now, forgot to take my camera with me but I'll take some pics next time I'm under the car.

Bit of an update, some good some bad, let start with the good.

Bought some USDM tail lights (red indicators):
DSC_0130.jpg

And an AEM V2:
DSC_0129.jpg

Now the bad, I had quite a slow coolant leak which had been bugging me for ages, narrowed it down to 3 hoses leaking, the upper rad hose and 2 hoses behind the engine just above the oil filter right PITA to replace! So swapped them over (these are the old ones quite worn out)
DSC_0140.jpg

While the coolant was out I thought I might aswell clean the IACV as the car did seem to idle a tad high on occasion, so whipped it off and cleaned it all out with intake and carb cleaner, here it is after:
DSC_0124.jpg

DSC_0125.jpg

Then put new coolant in and bled the system, while the car was running I could hear a rattle coming from the front of the engine, and some smoke from where the dip stick goes, so took off the manifold heat shield to find this!
DSC_0135.jpg

A crack where branch 1 & 4 meet:
DSC_0133.jpg

So took it for a test drive anyway to find out it now idles between 1200-1500! Was going to come back and do an oil & spark plug change but I've got bigger problems to deal with now! Pretty stressed out but atleast I have a reason to upgrade the manifold now 8)

Update!

Finally managed to fix my idle problem after 2 months of rev hunting driving me insane! Turned out there was a vacuum hose unpluged, I must have knocked it off when cleaning the IACV, all fixed now tho! :D

Then fitted some parts at stupid o clock! One of the perks of having a garage with light and heat :)

DSC_0150.jpg

My detailer friend decided my headlight casing was too dirty lol

DSC_0153.jpg

Finally on, sounds so good in VTEC!

DSC_0154.jpg

Fitted the USDM lights

DSC_0160.jpg

They have a rear sidelight bulb, I'm still not sure if I like them, took the bulbs out for now

DSC_0156.jpg

DSC_0159.jpg

DSC_0164.jpg

More to come over the next few days, got a shinny new manifold to bolt on! :)

Bought myself a early xmas present! :D

DSC_0164-1.jpg

DSC_0167.jpg

DSC_0166.jpg

Just need to find a slim fan before I can fit it

Made a wee purchase from Scotland! :p

DSC_0233.jpg

Massive thanks to Martin for driving these down all the way from Edinborough! Top bloke! :good:

When the gf saw them she said with no hint of sarcasm what so ever "aren't these wheels for an Evo?"

On a side note, I think I broke my clutch! Its been slipping for a while now and was having a bit of fun down some country roads the other day when all of a sudden my gear changes started to get really juddery, so I think a Competition clutch and flywheel is next on my shopping list! :D

Finally got the wheels fitted! Cleaned them all up first and sealed to stop them gettin dirty so eaily, unfortunately found some corrosion on the insides :( Gonna get them refurbed in the summer, got more important things to buy at the moment! Anyway here's some pics:

Started with the rears, lowered it 5mm, needs to be lower tho! (front end was jacked up here plus the suspension hadn't settled so it makes it look alot worse!)

DSC_0241.jpg

Then while the front wheels were off I undersealed the front arches finally :p Also treated the brakes to some copper grease cos they squeek real bad!

DSC_0238.jpg

All done!

DSC_0244.jpg

Fitted the fronts and lowered it by 8mm, by the time I was done it got really dark so just one pics at the moment

DSC_0253.jpg

Going to lower the rear a bit more and give the car a wash! The front look spot on, can't really go any lower anyway, scapping the front lip getting in and out of the driveway already! :p

More pics tomo! :D

Finally gave the car a wash today, here's some before pics from last week:

Updates y0!

Got a delivery this morning :D

DSC_0288-1.jpg

Competition stage 1 clutch and 4kg lightweight flywheel

DSC_0290.jpg

Got straight to work! Whipped off the old manifold to remove the flywheel cover and couldn't resist trying this on! :p

DSC_0283.jpg

Gave it a quick polish too

DSC_0282.jpg

Got quite a bit done, just got the driveshafts to go but then I had to go to uni so should have everything installed later on in the week :D

Bit of a late update

Last week fitted the new clutch and flywheel, this is how the car sat for a couple days because I would only have 2/3 hours each time I was free to work on it!

DSC_0279-1.jpg

Removed the old stuff

DSC_02762.jpg

Quick test fit to check everything fits together properly

DSC_0296.jpg

New clutch and flywheel all torqued up! :)

DSC_0275.jpg

All back together with new manifold :)

DSC_0286.jpg

DSC_0288-3.jpg

On the first test drive it was making some weird rumbling noises left it for a few days trying to figure out what I could have done wrong, turned out this was the problem!

DSC_0276.jpg

This brace was making contact with the downpipe of the new manifold (there was 2-3cm clearance when I fitted it), ended up putting a bit of a dent in it

DSC_0277.jpg

Finally recieved my slim line fan (old fan won't fit because of the design on the manifold) so once that's on I can take it for a proper drive :)

DSC_0281.jpg

Small update.

Fitted my slim fan behind the radiator so you can't see it in the bay :)
DSC_0302.jpg

Also removed a/c, probably not the best time of the year to do it but it was out of gas anyway! I think it cleans up the bay quite a bit, also bought a Skunk2 battery tie down for some added bling 8)
DSC_0286-2.jpg

More to come just waiting on parts :)

Late night update cos I'm bored and can't sleep! :p

Ditched the Spoon street for something a bit louder, got this made up by Alan at Solid Fabrications

DSC_0283-3.jpg

Also decided I couldn't be asked to DIY paint my 98 bumper so I just sent it off for paint, here's the car waiting in the garage for its return

DSC_0279-5.jpg

And here's the finished article :)

DSC_0299.jpg

And another one of the exhaust because I love it so much!

DSC_0291-3.jpg

So then I had 2 days to prepare for the big South Mimms meet, so got started with a quick DA polish on the headlights

DSC_0307.jpg

Then a wash and dry followed by a full IPA all over the bodywork to see the true condition of the paintwork, it wasn't pretty :(

DSC_0310.jpg

Forgot to take pics during but 6 hours later, all done :D

DSC_0324-1.jpg

DSC_0320.jpg

And I know your all probably sick of it by now but a quick one of it at South Mimms 8)

DSC_0373copy.jpg

Time for an update, been too busy working on a friends car so haven't really done alot but change the number plates, removed the tilt bracket and took some fancy pants pics :p

Seriously cool mate and some great reflection shots. Did you end up getting rid of the swirl/halo markings on the paintwork?
