As above Im having a problem with my brakes. The brakes are sticking very bad at times and dont seems to be sticking at all other times. For example sometimes it feels like the brakes are completely clamping on and i have to rev very high to get her rolling and I really have to keep accelerating or else as soon as i take my foot from the accelerator the car slows and nearly comes to a stop as if Im braking, and I had the car on the road let off the handbrake and couldnt push the car back or forward at all.

Then other times the car is fine and there is no signs of clamping. I let the handbrake down and the car rolls fine!

I dont know whether its the master cylinder or the actual brakes have seized and i haven't had time with work to look at it properly due to work but the fact it is an on off thing would this mean it be more likely to be the master cylinder? If the callipers were seized they would remain seized wouldnt they?

What you guys think? Any feedback appreciated :thanks:

You need to check if it's all of the calipers, most of them or just one. If it's just one, it could be the flexi's being blocked, causing the calipers to engage, but not release. If it's all of the brakes then yeah, it could be the master cylinder. I've had exactly the same problem recently with one of my Spoon calipers. When I release the bleed nipples it un-clamps which suggests it's the flexi's, so I'm going to replace those. Hope this helps...

Stevie.

Sorry dude forgot to mention its the front two the back ones seem fine. yes it seems like that, there not realeasing. If its only the front would that rule the master cylinder out? I havent looked at it properly yet i will release the nipples and see what happens aswell. Hopefully its an easy mend!

Thanks for your help :))

No problem, not entirely sure if the rears operate via a seperate system to the master cylinder, maybe someone else can answer that. But like I said; if you release the bleed nipples and the discs free and can be moved with your hands, then it rules out the calipers and means that it must be something before them. Either the flexi or the brake line. (More than likely the flexi if they do). Let us know what happens when you tweek the nipples. (Haha). :nice:

bad idea to drive the car if the brakes are binding. this could make the damage worse. if its the pins that need lube to free them up on the caliper itself, driving while they are binded will damage/seize permanently the caliper itself beyond repair and result and a new caliper being bought. i have had a similar problem before where i ddi the same thing.. rev high to pull off etc then when getting out after a drive u can smell the brakes and even se the heat coming from them if looked at.

AFIAK they do, partailly, as one must remember that the handbrake is mechanical seperate system. therefor with a braking system being 60/40 front and back when pressing the pedal the rear will be on the same system.

Thanks Skar for the advice and info! I still havent had time to check out what the problem is iv been to busy with work! Hopefully can get it sorted the end of the week! Will get back and let you guys know what it is!

Appreciate the feedback! :)

Well just to update on this i only got around to it today. I turned out that it was the master cylinder that was causing the clamping! The brakes werent releasing fully when pressed and then did at other times or did slowly so i got a new master cylinder and its working fine and the calipers are fine but i think i might upgrade them soon! The master cylinder seems to be a problem with a lot of hondas! Thanks for your help lads! :))
