Hey, Basically, I've got my rocker cover sanded down and ready for painting, I've got the heat-resistant Hammerite Red paint, the thing is.. My mate just informed me he also has a can of Candy Apple Red paint, but that ISN'T heat-resistant, What would happen if I put on the basic red Hammerite paint then after that had dried, added a layer or two of candy red? :please:

Would it work or would it just peel?

You dont need heat resistant paint as long as it primed and sanded properly before spraying then it will last

Ah fair does, too late though. Haha. I just picked it up just in case, it was only a quid dearer than the other stuff. So, would adding the candy-apple on top work out do you think? Or since they're different kinds of paint d'you reckon it might go funny?

I would just go for primer and the candy red and forget about hammerite but you could always try it out on waste piece and see will it react.

Probably the best idea to try it on something I don't care about before I go ruining my rocker cover. haha. Just wanted to know if anyone had tried it already. A couple of people say not to bother putting primer on though, how does that work..?

when painting you cant really go wrong if the areas cleaned, de-greased, primed, painted and then laquerd. im no expert on what products to use but i think etch primer is the stuff to use for aliminium but someone correct me if im wrong....

a hammerite rocker cover might not win you any points lol, plus i used hammerite on my calipers last year and its now starting to peel! heat maybe???

Nah it's heat-resistant hammerite in a rattle-can like, Not a brush-job. Haha. I may just go for the candy-apple red. :p :D
