**Help Engine sluggish and slow after being in traffic**

I have a Eg9 with a 1.8 sir engine fitted in her and I have this problem ages now that when I first start the car say in the morning and drive it its runs at 100% but after it gets to runing temperature on the temp gauge and if I get stuck in traffic for a while as in not really moving and when the engine gets hot from just siting there, but its not overheating and say then the traffic clears and in first gear I put the foot down and floor it, the car is sluggish and doesnt accelerate good and runs like crap

its like when I leave my car ticking over with out driven it, it runs like crap but if I take in out and nite when I havent driven it all day it runs like a champ sounds weird but thats what itS like.

it also sounds different when it vtecs after being stuck in traffic and when its not running right . iv searched the forum and someone else had the exact same prob as me and had no look with it
any ideas

Is VTEC actually kicking in at all?
Drop in oil pressure when hot?
 
ya it vtecs grand alright when I only start it up and when it gets to normal running temp it runs great and pulls like a train but if I Then get stuck in traffic for a while after it warms up and then if the traffic goes and I floor it, its very slow to accelerate and sluggish I have no ecu codes up, it only seems slow and sluggish when its left ticking over for a bit and not driving its weird but in the forum tab if you search (car sluggish in traffic) some lad explains it a bit better than me but he didn't get if solved man it bit of a pain to be honest cheers man
 
Mines very similar, I've always put it down to heat soak but not sure if that's 100% correct
 
ya sounds like it could be as the engine would be heating up under the bonnet but the Aem air intake pipe is at the front bumper away from engine so it still sucking in cold air ...CR1S suggested drop in oil pressure I have a oil pressure gauge and oil temp gauge in the car but there not wired up as I dont no how to ha so ill look into getting that done and check out if the pressure drops or that and take it from there

possibly a fuelling issue as you say it's ok when its cold? maybe o2 sensor?
 
is it smokey at all when you try to floor it after sittin in traffic? does it blow out any black oiley smoke more spacifically
 
I've checked the fuel pressure and its fine. No smoke at all during traffic. If i don't drive the car for a few days, the car will be back to normal, no sluggishness. It will be all normal for days till i meet another traffic and the problem will come back again.
