Hello everyone.

I would like some help with this one please.
I recently brought a focus TDCi from a trader.
Having had it for less than a month the clutch is slipping.
I have a reciept for the clutch and duel mass flywheel being done 4,000 miles ago but the trader took his own parts to a garage he knows well.
So the garage won't touch it for free as it wasn't their parts.
And the trader is saying he doesn't have to do anything but as a "good will gesgure" I've forced £250 out of him.
I would just like to know where I start with just forcing him to get the car back.
The car is a 2002 focus with 104,000 on it.

I would appreciate any help
Thanks
Chris

I believe you've got a certain time to give the car back, was on rouge readers or something like that once.
1month is easily within the time restraint anyway, do some research on the law on that sort of thing. You'll probably have to write to him to make it official and what not, but I'm 99% the law will cover you on this.
Pretty sure even the old "sold as seen" trick doesn't work with traders. But sold as "spares or repair" or words to similar effect will.

Did you buy the car in a retail sale or trade sale?

If you bought it trade, unfortunatley you havnt got a leg to stand on as he has no obligation to provide any sort of warrenty.

I.e the car was "sold as seen, tried and tested at time of sale"

I brought it from a guy who is VAT registered and has a trade name but sells from his house. Yeah I read I had some amount of time just to give it back but the guy is having non of it. I'm just worried buy the time it all get sorted I'm going to have had to get the work done anyway as I use the car for work and rely on it.

Try phoning Citizen's advice, they're usually really good with giving some guidance mate.
