head gasket gone ?

WTF, what kind of mechanic is that? It costs peanuts in the grand scheme of engine rebuild to skim the head......

I would of thought that would be the cause of it... though I'm not too technical on this subject, I thought it was mandatory to skim the head when you fit a new gasket, otherwise it doesn't seal properly..

the engine wasnt rebuilt as such , he just assembled the head and put the head onto the block for me. i asked for it to be skimmed but he didnt as there's oversized pct pistons in the block and he was worried about the pistons hitting the valves or somethin, but i think he was just too busy....il know in future

iv a feeling that is probably the problem so once i lift the head im gona get it checked and skimmed if needed

sounds like he had a clue what he was at, a thou is about the width of a hair funny how all the high comp builds on here have skimmed heads sure all he would have to do is check clearances it's prob your problem mate ud be better taking it to someone who nos what he's at like vtec6000

I work in a engineering firm that specialises in engine remanufactor it's not always necessary to skim a lot of heads it all depends if the head is warped or when the gasket blows it can eat in to the head leaving deep grooves in to the head but sometimes it can seem visually fine to look at but once clamped to the a machine to skim it we check the extent of warpage using a dial gauge and run it up the head ud be supriesd how much can be in the head even something like 2 or 3 thou could cause this and price wise ud be looking at the sake of £35 to £45 for a skim

Seems like if there is oil coming from under the VTEC solenoid where the gasket it then it could quite possibly have been fit upside down as there is an oil passage there if I remember correctly.

taking off the head at the moment , having trouble loosening the timing belt tensioner tho?! is there a certain way of loosening this ?

i noticed all white residue on the intake manifold near the coolant line .... if the intake manifold gasket wasnt sealing would water get into the head this way and cause the milky oil and white smoke ??

Yeah most unlikely, did someone not say that earlier?

just read back there and missed the part of wazers comment about the intake gasket

looks like that is the problem , the oil leak at the corner of the block was probably the cam seal leaking doewn ?
