how have u 3 years ncb if u were driving under your fathers name???

what i would do if u really want a 9 is insure your self with quinn in any thing at all wait for a month then transfair over insurance but be prepared to pay as an ek9 with quinn insurance is classed as 200bhp!!!

good look with it any way lad im 23 with 3 years ncb and my insurance is 1400 if thats any help ok:blabla::))

lad u need to insure some other car with Quinn as storiee! said and then switch over ur insurance to the 9. they have to insure you then! i got my 9 when i was 19 and switched over from a 1.4 golf and they did it no bother
Im 20 now with 3 yrs no claims and payin 1750e

ahhh still no luck .... :( my current insurer said they ring me back but still nothing .... so depressed

Insurance is a legit scam, I was trying to insure a 9 but the quotes of I was getting were too crazy so I got an sir instead. If quinn, 123.ie or axa wont insure you , the do what other lads said, switch over your policies

I had trouble with my insurance, try Sky Insurance, they give 20% off if you're a forum member. Also try Admiral here, 10 month policy, added my mum as second driver and my dad as 3rd, brought it down a fair bit.

Quinn wont insure Ek9s. I was with them for 5 years, 5 years ncb, full licence, 26 years old and when i rang them up looking to get a quote to swap over to an Ek9 they told me that they dont insure that car at all. Doesnt matter what age you are. Id keep ringing around, im sure there is someone that will insure you. Just be prepared to pay big for it.

Quinn do insure ek9s....switched my policy over last yr from a golf to a ek9 with them nd just renewed it there in september....and i was 19 when i transferred over

quinn dont insure ek9's as i tried to get insurance for my dad on his own and all they said that they dont insure ek9's anymore  , then she said that this changed recently and i should try again in a while

I think it depends/varies from person to person, there are companies that won't insure me where I know other people same age or even younger with same NCB are insured with them!

Yea your right lad quinn wont insure ek9s or any other jap import anymore there gone like axa n that..

Whats de story with that how does it work like? and what happens if ur stopped?

Im taking Quinn Direct as an example.

Under fully comprehensive cover with a full licence you get a 3rd party driving extension. This provides 3rd party basic cover on another car which is taxed and nctd and not under any insurance policy.

So basically if were to purchase a cheap car which you could use as a daily driver you could drive the ek9 on the weekends/evenings under 3rd party.

The problems are , you need to quote a policy number to tax the ek9. Providing your own policy number would be false information as it does not relate to the ek9. same goes for the insurance as to what slip you display in the window .
Also having only 3rd party on the ek9 you would want to make sure its safe and secure at all times!

If you get stopped by the gardai its really down to the type they are and what sort of person you are. If you arse about in it constantly getting stopped then they are more likely to investigate your documents for example your tax and may inform your insurance company.

Having said all this ive heard that Quinn Direct maybe stopping this ''perk'' in the future although AXA do offer this aswell but with different circumstances.
Only way to find out with an up to date answer is to ring them and find out for yourself.

is that like being insured under another can but with open insurance ? and then driving the 9 ?

3rd party driving extension and open driving are two seperate things.
A driving extension allows you to drive other cars under certain circumstances.
Open driving relates to your own car and who can drive it under certain circumstances

I was trying to get permanently insured on an Ek9. I wasnt trying to switch temporarily and they still said no. I rang on 4 or 5 different occasions over 6 months and they still said they dont insure that car at all. Maybe you got lucky or i was unlucky but thats what they told me after 5 years with them. And it doesnt matter whether or not you have already bought the car, they arent obliged to insure you.
