just wondering if its hard or not??,
i dont want to buy new glass, i only want it so my car will look a little better and its also fairly inexpensive

its hard enough sidewindows arent that bad but the back window , omg we failed so hard.... looked like a blind monkey put it on lol , so took it off straight away

I think it's quite easy it's knowing how it's done and having the patients with it. Can be fidlie tho.

The trick is to cut the film on the outside so you get the right shape and you use a heat gun to get out the big gaps and creases. Once the shape is right you place it on the inside, remove the clear backing so it sticks and then same method again to get it prefect.

Plenty of soapy water on the window is needed so you can move it around with no problems and you just squeegee that out after.

With the rear window you normally have to wait around 3 weeks for it to dry and set before you can use the heated bit.

I tinted my rear quarter windows. Bit of patients and it came out well.
One thing to note though, tinting film as opposed to the real ek9 dark tinted glass darkens your windows more on the inside. My side windows in this pic is film - rear glass is from the ek9. They both just as dark on the outside. Not so bad during the day, but makes it hard to see out of at night.

ah right, is it easy to take off?
and what about the precut stuff you can buy, surely that should make it easier no?

nealt2000

which kind of film did you use, 5%, 25% 35%... etc?

Umm not sure what tint % it was, did it 3 years ago, just dark smoke I think I used.

soxturf - cheers man! :)

Yes I have. I would really recommend buying a good metalized tint instead of the cheapy stuff. The cheapy stuff fades to a blue/purple colour after about a year.

If you want to do a really good job then I would take the passenger and drivers windows out. It makes it so much easier to do a good job. The windows come out really easily.

35% for the front windows is what I prefer. At night time 20% or less can make it a bit hard to see out in my opinion.

I don’t know anything about that company but it does sound expensive for what it is. If you have an ebay account I’ve found the best so far is this product:
Window Tint Roll 20" x 10' High Performance VLT 35% | eBay

If you are just doing the rear quarter windows it will be an easy job and there’s no need to take the windows out. Pre-cuts won’t really be necessary either. The interior trim around the rear quarter windows can hide any imperfections around the edge of the window as long as you push the tint up underneath.

Don’t attempt to do the rear hatch window as the curve of it makes it very hard to do well. Take robbiD’s advice on how to install it. You won’t need to use a heat gun for the rear quarter windows as they are pretty much flat.
The factory EK9 rear quarter windows are 5% just for interest.
