Right i have a Type R Gearbox on my civic aparently ( s4c LSD from an EK9 )

There are no marks on the box as it has been resprayed. the sticker is missing. but i know it has LSD because of being able to see strait through when the shafts are removed.

But the question is are there any ways of telling if it's an EK9 Gearbox or somthing else.

Because basicly i want to change my final drive to a 4.9 final drive and i've been told they are different. so i don't want to order the wrong one.

And also what things are needed when changing the final drive seal wise ? and are all B16 gear box seals the same because i cant get ek9 parts from my french dealer.

Also do you need a press to remove the gears from the shaft ?

cheers lads hope you can help

hi mate im affraid you wont know untill you crack the box open and you wont need to press the shaft there all loose sorta thing.

As mentioned you're best splitting the box apart to be certain. It could even be an LSD box from a eg sir, I'm not sure if they use the same pcd as other LSD boxes.

ok so once it's open how do i tell ?

And what kinda seals am i going to need and where to get them ? If it's an EK9 box then where can i get the seals from ?

i'm 95% sure it is one because of the gearing hits 62mph in second seems to go with what mfactory reckon corresponds to an ek9 gearbox but i'd rather be 100% sure.

as for the seal you could either measure them and order some up through a motor factors or you could even just pop to your local honda dealer, and as for the final drive you would have to count the teeth on the final drive gear.
