This new HONDA B Series GEAR-X DOG BOX kit has just been released –

Using the opposite racing season time differences between New Zealand and the USA, our New Zealand GEAR-X Distributor Al Stewart (Big Al) has been testing Dog boxes for over 24 months. To date he has found that the majority of HONDA B series Dog kits currently available are not suitable for road race application with extremely high dog wear and shifting difficulties –
Starting from scratch, Gear X have worked for the last 12 months with a company experienced in manufacturing sequential gearboxes for Formula cars and developed what we believe is an affordable and reliable 5 speed B series dog kits . The new 5 speed B series Extreme road race kit is - Fully straight cut, with Dog Engagement. FIA homologated ratios with an great range of custom final drives is designed for serious Road Race/Rally use only. Our testing program will continue on circuit and gravel events and we will have the kits available for general sale in July 2010

At a price that will be highly competitive in this unique market. The Gear kits will come with the following Ratios: GX HO B CR-DOG5 (FIA Spec) 1st 2.42 2nd 1.81 3rd 1.42 4th 1.17 5th 1.00 With these Final drive options available 5.5 4.8 4.54 4.33 4.2 (plus custom options)

GX HO B CR-DOG5 (Rally Spec#1) 1st.2.60 2nd.1.81 3rd.1.50 4th. 1.25 5th. 1.045 with these Final drive options available 5.5 4.8 4.54 4.33 4.2 (plus custom options)

We have tested a range of intermediate and final drive ratio options and we will be introducing a third set of optional ratios. GX HO B CR-DOG5 (Race Spec#1) 1st. 2.48 2nd.1.81 3rd.1.50 4th. 1.25 5th. 1.045 with Final Drive options- 4.54 or 4.33 depending on tire size and track. Using a 1.045 with a 4.33 final gives exactly the same speed/revs as using a 1.03 [GEAR-X Custom 5th] with a 4.4 for Road Racing use.
Speeds in gears for dog kit shift rev drop

101 7648 1552
121 7663 1537

9200 rpm shift 23.97 diameter tires. This is a normal “16 or “17 race tire. If using “15 wheels with a 1600 cc engine then the overall reduction in gearing should be excellent

First and Second are the standard FIA Homologated Ratios but we have slightly closed the gap between 2nd and 3rd from 1.42 to 1.5 and lowered fourth gear from 1.174 to 1.250

New GEAR-X Dog Kit shown assembled in Big Al’s “cutaway” Demo Gearbox housing

These small changes keep the Ratio Drops similar but closed up slightly which suits the higher HP and torque producing B18C Engine better. [The original FIA Homologated Kit was for a Standard B16A which lacked in torque when compared with a modified B18C.] Big Al is currently carrying out our final track testing in a highly modified 2.0 l B Series road race Integra with 290 flywheel HP and running on slick race tires. Optional Drag Racing Ratios will be made available once the Dog Box is released for sale. We will develop further compatible ratios as we continue to test the GEAR-X Precision Drive Line Components on the Race track where it counts.

This kit will be retail at - £3800 inc all 5 speeds dog gear and custom final drive

Also another great new is we now have - NEW! Reinforced HONDA B Series Selector
We are pleased to introduce this new reinforced shift selector.
The oem item is possibly the weakest part in any Honda Gearbox, these new reinforced items are a must in any Dog Box, and in fact in any Honda B Series Gear box if it is being used for competition purposes. Manufactured in the USA to the very highest standards, we highly recommend the use of these upgraded selectors in the new GEAR-X B Series Dog Box.

Another racing news -
2010 Special Projects/ Password JDM
Joint venture Touring Car Project.
Password JDM have passed their DC2 Integra on to Special Projects Motor Sports/GEAR-X in a Joint venture to complete construction of the car and have Kiwi compete in the remaining rounds of the 2010 NASA Honda Challenge. The K-24 Powered car will be prepared to the NASA H1 Class rules and Kiwi has no doubt that
even at this late stage in the season he can still take the Podium for the Southern California region Honda Challenge Championship, and he will also compete at the National Honda Challenge Championship at Miller Motor Sports Park in Utah in September 2010. There is a slight possibility that the car will go on to compete in some of the popular Time Attack events that are scheduled for the 2010 racing season. The car will be fitted with the very latest in GEAR-X Precision Drive Line Components. Password JDM parts and equipment will be show cased and tested as well.

The car will receive the usual Special Projects Motor Sports attention to detail, and a quota of the well known P1Aero/Ground effects. The team will be resurrecting all the P1 Aero, the full under tray, Rear Diffuser, Side skirts, Air Dam and Splitter etc that had been tested with great results back in 2008 but could never be used in the past because of the very restrictive US Touring Car regulations. Now with the Time Attack events becoming more popular, where anything goes… Lets bring it on!
