Friend needs help!

Hey guys I got a friend with an EG that is heating up, I've notice that it heats up the most instantly when he gets off the highway and spits all the coolant in the reserve, we flushed the radiator, and changed the thermostat but still no change. If you guys have any tips to help him out it would be awesome.

head gasket maybe?

check the following:

fan
idle for some time (10-15mins?) till operating temperature and fan should start.
if it doesnt, problem should be fan switch or relay , jump the fan switch or relay, fan should start.
if it doesnt, problem should be the fan is not working or wiring.

head gasket
any coolant in oil or oil in coolant?
white smoke from exhaust?
compression or leak down test?

water pump
have to remove the water pump to see the impeller.

many possible causes. and after solving it, i would advise to change the whole cooling system if possible.
