Fan intermittently failing

A few months back, my radiator fan started acting wouldn't come on early, and the temp would reach up to 3/4 level before it started working. We shorted the thermoswitch terminals and found out the thermoswitch was starting to die (fan was working flawlessly) so we replaced it with a new OEM thermoswitch.

Things went good until this last new year's eve while stuck in traffic I almost overheated because the fan failed to start. We shorted the terminals temporarily which got the fans to kick in until we could sort it out in the shop when work resumed. At the shop we plugged back in that same thermoswitch and it worked it was not malfunctioning at all. We checked the fuses/relays everything is working ok.

Now I'm scratching my head because I need to find the cause of the fan not kicking in intermittently. Any ideas where we could look next?

I just don't want to be caught in a bad traffic jam and then suddenly my fan decides not kick in.

Nope not losing water either. We pressurized the cooling system to check for leaks but there was none.
