hi guys

am doing a engine swap in my em1 in a few weeks time,

and jut wanting to know a few things, ,,,

1. will the b16a run soundly of the b16a2 ecu ??
2. what timing belt would you recomend ?
3. what upgrdes should i do for more power ?

will be glad for any advice over this matter

Have you wrote the question right? Do you mean b16b from the ek9?
There will be no point in changing to an earlier engine......

no i'd run the ecu for the b16a as they are mapped different from uk vti's.
as for timing belt can't go wrong with an oem one.
upgrades just the usual intake/exhaust then you're looking at cams such as ek9/teg ones all depends on your budget.
are your brakes/suspension up to the job as i'd be upgrading them first before i started modding the engine. possibly look and get a lsd equipped gearbox too

thanks dhdavectr for advice with the ecu,

as for the brakes am gonna stick with the standared ones for the time being, cuz i wont be driving fast for ages as i am putting acl bearings in :p

as for the suspention am stuck to the road with the tein super street coilovers

and for the gearbox my mate has offered me a teg s80 gearbox for £300 but the syncros have gone,, buy and rebuild box or dont buy ??

budget is reali a few £100 a week

cheers for help :nice:

i wouldnt bother with the engine swap tbh.

wouldnt buy the box either

Well if you want a more detailed explanation.

There will be no REAL LIFE power difference between those two engines, it might make like 5hp more on a dyno but you will feel no difference. And no engine swap is without its niggles.

If you want more power relatively cheaply, get a B18c4 bottom end and youl notice a much bigger difference.

The reason i told you not to get the box is that working ones only cost like 400 pounds, so a 100 pound saving for one with shagged syncros isnt worthwhile.

oh damn i forgot about the jdm b16a sorry i thought you meant the early b16 :angry2:

lol This whole topic could have been solved with 1 phone call madrel.

Oh and a b16a2 ecu will run a JDM b16a fine ther is prity much no difference besides that engine has been runing on a b16a2 UK p30 ecu prity much all of its life so im sure it will be fine for the rest.
