hi lads, i was just wanting your opinions and things on whether you think there will be many decent ek9s around in a few years time?

if so do you think they will be rare?

or just the same?

cheers

I think in a few years, say 3-5, that there will be a few more ek9’s kicking about due to the falling prices.

In my opinion there will be more bad examples due to age and cost, a few extremely mint examples with people taking good care (complete re-builds etc), but most of them will be clean/ok examples needing bits of work.

Bear in mind that in 3-5 years some of these cars will be 17/18 years old.

i reckon ek9s in a few years will turn out how the mr2 scene is.

pretty poor with a few nice examples and many barry boys

there will be hardly any left. they will all be broken for spares and there will be loads of gay ej9s driving about with ek9 bumpers, spoilers etc on them. haha

i reckon in the next few years you will see the same ek9s around and not many new ones unless the sitaution in japan changes and prices go down to import cars. as a result the ek9s will have been through a few more brutal winters and will be salt ridden so i think it will be hard to find an ek9 with no rust. in saying that i ight be wrong but by the way things look right now i have seen plenty of ek9s that have only been in the country for a couple of years and are very rusty underneath

I think there will be more people who are not ek9 enthusiasts driving them and ruin them and then there will remain a good few nice ones that people have taken care of and not let waste away! I reckon it could turn out like the ae86 twincam they are 20 years old + and most of them are mint examples kept clean! Hope the ek9 doesnt ever fade out! I know ill keep one anyway :D :))

There will always be good examples around, as some of the owners dont mind pouring serious money into them to keep them going for years. They will probly fetch a good price as well, as you say ae86's are still around, and good examples are worth a fair amount.

It is a shame to see them being broken for parts and wrecked, but at least it means there are parts available for the caring owner to keep there ek9 alive.

i think in a away the ek9 has already stood the test of time weather there will be many around in years to come is a different story how many people in here would turn down an imacculate crx vt or sir not many of us at a guess think that the ek9 will be in the same situation with our ek's plenty around but minters few and far between

has anyone noticed the rise in interest chavs are showing for the ek9s i know they have been putting body kits on civics for years but just recentley there seems to be a few around me been driven by chavs

the way the ek's are being re-built from this forum alone, i'd say there will be a good few still going strong in 5 years but since most of them have been modified in one way or another, a mint standard ek9 will be a rare site :(

Like the way there are nice EG civics and EF civics about, same can be said for the EK9s in a few years, there be some nice ones and some damm right spoiled ones, as for the EJ9 comment, so what if they have ek9 stuff on them, at least they wont have the chavvy bodykits and lexus lights.

Luckily i've not seen one chavved up ek9 yet, was plenty of chavved ej9's at the falkirk cruise this month though.
I think there will be more and more mint examples than there is now. Reason being it's almost as cheap to buy an ek9 needing a small amount of bodywork than buy a mint ek4. Will be plenty more highly modified examples, just got to look at stevenek9 and Gav-ek9 for inspiration as either an all out track car or a mint fast road car.

my plan is to get a ek9 and keep it in my garage as a semi concours car but will get track action now and then. Gets me away from her in doors then :D
