im having a couple of problems with my windows in my 98 EK9.

1st problem is the D/S window takes long to go up and when its wet it sometimes doesnt fully go up? this also sometimes happens in the dry

2nd problem is when driving at anything from 30mph upwards i can hear the air from outside getting inside my car. the windows are fully up but it sounds as if the doors arent closed rite or the windows arent fully up

anyone else have these problems and if so how do you fix them

cheers

Take your door card off and check all the workings of the window in operation.

Give all moving parts some greasing and check all the rubbers around the window frame.

If nessacery, replace the rubber surrounds to stop any air drafts.

Hi... i guess the 2nd problem arises due to the 1st problem...

u can hear the wind noise when u dont fully close the window properly, so like 'Mat' mentioned get ur mechanism & window rubber surround greesed up to fix this :win:

my windows are fairly slow up and down. new motors might solve the problem...

if you dont greese up the mechanism probably new motors might not last long :( motors start going slow due to the friction of the rubber...

btw: think new E/W motors do hve high price too :nerv: they r not cheap!!

Well I have other news for you. My windows are shaking when they are not fully closed and the noise freaks me out!! :angry2:

ye some spray grease on the seals cos that is the only thing that will lube and not react with the rubber. its the friction on the rubber that makes them slow

:nice:HALFORDS- 3in1 silicone spray, used it on my very slow and juddery windows and for the last 3 months they go up and down quicker and smoother than a supersonic marble:nice::nice::D

Like everyone else here said, try to spray the rubbers first.

But if the problem remains, then you will probably have to replace the window motor.

With the civic EK model, that is a bit of a weak point. I've seen several motors that lack power because of corrosion inside the motor gear house.

The best tip that I can give you when you would have to replace your window motor is to search for a 2nd hand motor from a civic EG (model 92-95).
those motors are exactly the same as the civic EK, but the mechanism for lifting the window has an extra spring (to help lift the window up).

So look out for a window motor + mechanism of a civic EG, it's way cheaper than a new motor, and you can fit it in your EK9 (you just have to swap a small metal bar from one to the other)
