Hi everyone,

Thought id introduce myself, my car and its story.

Im new to the Ek9 but not to the honda scene, have had a few hondas including a Dc2 and Accord Type R.

How did i end up here then? Well it starts with my Integra. I was after one for a while and i eventually bought the car off a friend who had it in storage for a couple of years. I then spent 18 months working on it to get it upto a level i was happy with for track use. See pics...

As you can see i spent quite a lot of time getting it how i wanted it, painting the bay etc, getting rid of any rust, new calipers etc etc.

I was very happy with the car and the way it was setup was great.

And then just my luck a lorry decided he would crash into it whilst it was parked on my driveway, only did light, mainly cosmetic damage but it was enough for them to pay me out in full for the car.

plus i was p****d off because of all of the work etc i had put into it i decided to push them into paying me out in full so i could start a new project...

I started searching for an Ek9 straight away as i had always wanted one. I looked at a few but i eventually found one that is in really good condition (very near mint) had good history & import docs etc, was imported in 2010...

Very pleased with the condition of the new car. :))

Now my next step was to figure out what my plans are going to be for it. I do a lot of tracks and basically wanted the car as mainly a track / weekend toy.

I still had the Dc2 at this point so i decided why not go nuts and do the B18C swap into the Ek9

A deciding factor for me was i have done every seal and gasket on the B18 and i know it is a great engine with low mileage with no smoke or issues.

I had a lot of help from my good friend Matt (From Tegiwa) and we did it across a few days....

:))

Whilst we were there Matt rebuilt the gearbox and fitted an M-factory 5.1 Final Drive

We also fitted my new calipers, and any other bits we could swap over aswel as do the cambelt and valve clearances.

Iv made a custom gauge pod out of aluminium and finally fitted it this weekend (what a job getting the centre console out is!). So i can monitor things a little better on track (Oil Pressure, Oil Temp & Water temp).....

I've just finished fitting my Rear strut brace...

So as you can see iv been quite busy in the first two months of owning the Ek9.

The reason its all happened so fast is that it took a long time to get my dc2 ready for track, (and 10 seconds to ruin it) and i have booked a few tracks for this year which i didnt want to miss out on.

It is still work in progress, i have some bushes at the front to look at, (bit clunky) and some coilovers to organise and setup aswel as harnesses, exhaust..... i could go on but iv done enough of that.

Thought id share that all with you

:nice::nice:

I've gone DC5 - DC2 - EK9 on the honda stage, would love a B18 EK9.
Car looks great :D

Hi mate, thanks for that.

Yeah i loved the Dc2, was a really good car especially on track. I was gutted when it was hit.

The b18 with the 5.1 final drive definitely makes a big difference in the way the car accelerates. Cant wait to get it out on track, first one is Donny in July. :))

It does shift a bit yeah lol

Its work in progress but il get there with it all.

Im always up for different track days so if anyone is going let me know :))

Thats a good question Simon, i dont know yet to be honest, im new to the car so i will have to see. But i dont see why not.

My understanding of the ek9 is that it actually has an ever so slightly longer wheelbase than the dc2, which i know seems odd as the dc2 is a bigger car, so in theory it should be as good if not better at going round the corners. The Dc2 did sometimes have an element of oversteer which was quite controlable and fun through the chicanes.

But it all comes down to the way it is setup, dampning etc so it will, with a bit of trial and error, be setup for the way i drive.

I plan on keeping this one for a while so im going to get it just right hopefully.
