Hi guys,

Quick question about the carbon centre dash as I am new to EK9's and all! :)

Should there be any type of cage behind it to hold it securely in place? It seems to be just clips and you can easily take the console off with your fingers and move it up and down slightly just by pushing it.

Is this right?

Thanks.

hye GEE yeah mine is exactly the same mine even has a broken clip :(
if you have a double din cd/dvd/satnav in there it bolts to it and the weight seems to keep it in tight.

OK then..bit crappy. I notcied going over some speed bumps the dash was actually moving :(

While we are on the topic, do you know of some sort of earthing behind the console? Because sometimes I the heater control lights come on and others (most of the time) they are off, so something electrical is wrong :(

hmmm i think a good bang should sort that out :p
nah errmm im not sure il have a look a bit later on for you :)

The console is actually secure by four 8mm bolts under it. To remove it u need to first remove your gear console, glove box, under steering cover and under center cover (panel which hold the ashtray and cigarette lighter. U will see four 8mm bolts under your carbon console, after removing it just pull the thing out as it should be loose or pry it carefully with a flat screw driver.

Thats my problem then, because mine is not secured with anything, it just pulls out.

I think yours are missing two pieces of metal bracket that hold on between carbon console and the dash.

I think I know what your talking about...I have seen some metal brackets back there. I'll need to make sure I have both.

my facelift was the same when i got it, the cheeky monkey before me took out the double din and broke the clips inside and also lost the bolts. so i used trusty cable ties from the screw holes in the side of the brackets to the heavy bar close to the bulk head. worked a treat, pulled it in really tight then i just popped my new headunit in...

Gee,

If you are talking about the Carbon Fiber EK9 type R climate control center with the ac control, I have the same problem there is nothing other than the clips that hold it in place. I was having the same problem with the big bumps on the street it will come out a little bit, once I installed my Double din Pioneer navigation I guess the weight is holding it in place.

:nice:

Yeah sounds the same mate. I did see some metal like rails back there though?

Hmm..another problem. The round heater control knobs dont light up. They lit up ONCE and never again. Seems like a connection or earthing problem but everything looks to be connected correctly at the back.

I almost forgot, when i first installed the climate control from the EK9 CTR to my 99 civic hatch I had to replace the circuit board from my original climate control to the EK9 climate control and then everything worked

:nice:
