Ek4 with Eibach Prokit and Koni Yellows too low.

I´ve just installed my Koni/Eibach combo and for some reason, it´s just stupid low in the front. If there are grooves in the road the exhaust manifold will actually drag along the center.. :nerv:

I´ve installed on the "standard height" spring perch notch, so I´m starting to wonder if I can flip the perch around to get more height that way. Any input is really welcome.

The install :

How the front sits. It´s leaning towards the left, so it´s actually lower on a flat surface.

Wouldn't bother me that height looks spot on

The key here is - driving on a normal road with slight grooves in it causes the exhaust manifold to drag. That´s to be expected with speedbumps and such, but normal driving? No.

I´d rather have something I can drive without concern than looking good. :) As the Eibachs supposedly drop 35mm, there seems to be something wrong here. The rear is spot on in my opinion - it´s just the front that is a problem.
The rear dampers are set to the "normal" notch, the same applies to the fronts. Do the eibachs really lower THAT much in the front compared to rear?

Here´s one of countless pics of an EK with Eibach Prokit (which was more the kind of "drop" I was looking for) :

I´ll give myself a merry christmas-bump with the question if anyone has used these dampers with the spring perches upside down?

Merry christmas! :D

Could it be that I´ve somehow shoved the dampers too far through the fork..?

what kind of manifold do you have? Maybe it sits lower (comes down lower) than normal?

It does, it´s a mugen 4-1 manifold, which is not the most forgiving manifold when it comes to clearance. But considering how low the car is now in the front compared to the rear - along with other pictures of the expected lowering, I´m wondering if something is wrong.

maybe the wrong springs? measure them to your stock ones to make sure it's the correct height drop?

^ would that give an accurate measurement? Considdering they are not under load?

Unfortunately I don´t have the original springs. But I´ll whip them off in a few days to double check the numbers on them. I checked the numbers regarding which should be in the front/rear, but not that they acually were for an EK4.

I wonder if raising them in the fork would work, or if they´d just come down with a bang at some point.

I had the same problem with Eibach springs.. the drop on the front was a lot more than at the rear.
And I had to change springs because road here in Italy are not for that ride heights :nono:

I'm not sure to be honest. Just seemed like a reasonable problem shooting step. If nothing else, it would give a rough guess?

I think they would bang down.

I don´t get it, is their quality control bad or something? The roads here are not compatible with that kind of drop either. :/

That´s what I think as well, I just wanted someone to tell me it´s ok. :))

That´s what I´ve concluded with on my own, I was a bit thrown off by the fact that other dampers I´ve had weren´t possible to install like that. Thanks for the reassuring post though, will definately post back if this turns out to be the solution! Can´t wait to get out of this christmasy hell and back to work on the car!

Borrowed some tools today, and moved the dampers in the forks. Seems like that has solved the problem. Whoo.

Yeah, I was a bit worried there. I´ve hit a few bumps now, and the dampers haven´t slipped in the forks yet it seems! The koni/eibach combo seems like they are spot on for a 95% daily driver that gets 5% autoX and track use. Pretty pleased. Now to get alignment done!
